Scoop! New Stephen Sondheim & David Ives Musical Confirmed to Be in the Works; Based on Two Films

Confirming previously reported rumors, the new project will be a collaboration between Sondheim and contemporary American playwright David Ives. The project, whose title was not announced, will be based on two classic films by Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel. The two separate films will be the basis for one complete story which the characters will exist in seamlessly. The first half will be based on The 1972 film 'The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie' and the second half will be based on the 1962 film 'The Exterminating Angel.'

New Media Rep to Present OUT OF THEIR MINDS, 11/8-16

Peter Brook's THE SUIT Comes to Adelaide Festival Centre, Now thru Oct 12

State Theatre Company and Adina Apartment Hotels in association with Arts Projects Australia and the Adelaide Festival Centre present PETER BROOK'S THE SUIT in a run exclusive to Adelaide from the Theatre des Bouffes du Nord. Based on THE SUIT by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse and Barney Simon, the production will run today 1 October through 12 October 2014, with an opening slated for Friday 3 October at 8pm at the Dunstan Playhouse, Adelaide Festival Centre.

Russell Saylor will star in this comedy, running Thursday, October 30 through Sunday, November 23 at Amphibian's Berlene T. & Jarrell R. Milburn Theatre at 120 S. Main Street. Evan Mueller will direct the production.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted Tuesday night (August 26) to present Honorary Awards to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki and Maureen O'Hara, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Harry Belafonte.
