PETER PAN to Fly Into Playhouse on the Square, 11/22-1/5

Peter Pan with Lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green and Music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne -- a musical based on the play by James M. Barrie -- will run November 22, 2013 - January 5, 2014 at Playhouse on the Square. Special holiday schedule applies. Evening performances begin at 7:00 PM. Matinees begin at 2:00 PM.

Based upon the popular story by Sir James M. Barrie, Peter Pan is a magical ballet set to the music of Sir Edward Elgar in an arrangement by Niel DePonte and features spectacular flying sequences, swashbuckling swordfights, giant puppets, colorful masks, as well as costumes inspired by punk fashion. With elaborate, magical sets by Thomas Boyd and imaginative costumes by Broadway designer Jeanne Button, the production reinterprets the classic story with verve and wit. Houston Ballet will give seven performances of Peter Pan at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. Tickets may be purchased by calling 713 227 2787 or by visiting www.houstonballet.org.

Maude Adams: The 'First' Peter Pan

The Cenacle Retreat Center lies in one of the most serene areas of Long Island. It is run by the Sisters of the Cenacle, a French religious order founded by St. Therese Couderec who died in 1885. Located just north of the Long Island Expressway in Ronkonkoma, the Retreat Center provides retreats, spiritual direction and human development programs for the laity. It is also the site where Maude Adams lies buried.
