'PRAYER FOR MY ENEMY' Opens Tonight, 12/9

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) New York premiere of PRAYER FOR MY ENEMY, a new play by two-time Tony Award nominee, Pulitzer Prize finalist and two-time Obie Award winner Craig Lucas (Small Tragedy at Playwrights Horizons, The Light in the Piazza, Prelude to a Kiss, Reckless, The Dying Gaul) officially opens tonight Off-Broadway.

A Literary Christmas Miscellany at The New York Public Library Runs Through Jan. 4

Just in time for the holiday season, The New York Public Library will display Charles Dickens personal prompt copy of his classic tale A Christmas Carol from December 5, 2008 through January 4, 2009 in the free display A Literary Christmas Miscellany which includes a selection of holiday material from the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature. The display is on view in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library's Rose Main Reading Room located at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.

Trick Saddle Presents 'WICKETS' Beginning Previews 1/3/09

Trick Saddle presents the World Premiere of WICKETS beginning previews January 3 at 3LD Art & Technology Center. This radical adaptation of Marie Irene Fornes groundbreaking 1971 drama Fefu and Her Friends is created and conceived by Clove Galilee and Jenny Rogers. Developed through Mabou Mines Suite/Space and the HERE Arts Center Artist Residency Program (HARP) with overall support from INTAR Theater. Opening night is slated for Thursday January 8, 2009.

WHERE ELEPHANTS WEEP to Have World Premiere in Cambodia 11/28

Cambodia's first-ever modern music theater work, Where Elephants Weep, will have its official world premiere in Phnom Penh, Cambodia this November, it was announced by John Burt, the show's Executive Producer.

GLIMPSES OF THE MOON, a Jazz Age musical with book & lyrics by Tajlei Levis and music by John Mercurio, choreographed by Denis Jones, and directed by Marc Bruni, premiered with a sold-out run in the Oak Room last winter. GLIMPSES OF THE MOON is back by popular demand for an ongoing run at Off-Broadway's Oak Room in the Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Ave.). Performances began Sunday, October 26.

Photo Flash: NO MAN'S LAND at the Duke of York

Rupert Goold directs Michael Gambon, David Bradley, David Walliams and Nick Dunning in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land, at the Duke of York's Theatre. The production is currently booking until 3 January 2009. A Gate Theatre, Dublin production, No Man's Land is presented by Sonia Friedman Productions and Michael Colgan, with design by Giles Cadle, lighting by Neil Austin and sound and music by Adam Cork. Goold's production transfers to London following its opening at the Gate Theatre, Dublin in August.

Playwrights Horizons Awarded $2 Million Grant

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced that the theater company has been awarded a $2 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans announce the Chicago premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical Grey Gardens, book by Doug Wright, lyrics by Michael Korie and music by Scott Frankel. The production, directed by BJ Jones with musical direction by Doug Peck, choreography by Marla Lampert and featuring Hollis Resnik, Tempe Thomas and Ann Whitney, has already been extended and will now run November 12-December 28, 2008, at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie.

'Chekhov Lizardbrain' Adds Additional Performance 10/18

Philadelphia's Obie Award winning Pig Iron Theatre Company will add an additional performance to its sold out run of CHEKHOV LIZARDBRAIN at The Ohio Theater on Saturday, October 18 at 2pm. This surreal comedy loosely inspired by Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters and the 'Three Brain' theory of Paul D. MacLean is directed by Dan Rothenberg with text by Robert Quillen Camp and the ensemble.
