What Edward Albee boldly achieved with Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in the 60s, fiercely influenced Yasmina Reza as she seizes the moment and goes a giant step further in her brilliant recreation of human savagery in God of Carnage now onstage @ the Ahmanson Theatre until May 29. With the complete original award-winning Broadway cast in tact, this Comedy of Manners - Without the Manners, like an explosive, tears the roof right off the theatre.

The Paley Center for Media is happy to present the New York premiere of HBO's new film, Cinema Verite, starring Diane Lane, Tim Robbins, and James Gandolfini, which takes an incisive look at the behind-the-scenes story of PBS's groundbreaking An American Family, the very first reality TV series-thirty years before The Osbournes and Jon and Kate Plus 8-that has proven to be one of the top landmark media events ever. In 2002, TV Guide named An American Family among 'The Top 50 Greatest Shows of All Time.' That twelve-part series, which recorded the everyday lives of the Loud family, anticipated the reality television explosion as well as the contemporary desire to reveal private secrets on the Internet.

Last week I had the exceptional privilege of interviewing newly minted SAG and Golden Globe-winner for Best Actor In A Drama Series for his work on HBO'S BOARDWALK EMPIRE, Steve Buscemi, along with his wife, artist/choreographer Jo Andres, about their participation in the experimental music/theater space in Brooklyn, ISSUE Project Room. For those that are not aware, ISSUE Project Room is a community performance space for up-and-coming musicians, artists, performers and choreographers at 110 Livingston Street with the goal of creating a centralized space for all the arts - avant garde and otherwise. In addition to discussing their shared beginnings in the fringe theatre scene in the East Village in the eighties and the artists who inspired them, Buscemi and Andres also talk about the ultimate goals of the venue, both new and old, and the reason that now is the perfect time for a space such as this to flourish, as new artists get the opportunity to see their work produced. Further information about the venue - and how you can become a member - can be found here.

GOD OF CARNAGE is a comedy of manners without the manners. Yasmina Reza's play deals with two sets of parents who meet to resolve a conflict between their two children; what is supposed to be a civilised meeting turns into a barrage of name calling, tantrums and tears. In this hysterical comedy when the gloves come off, dirty laundry is aired and the grownups find themselves in their own playground.
Naked Angels will celebrate its 25th Anniversary as one of the most innovative theatre companies in New York with a spectacular Gala at Roseland Ballroom (239 West 52nd Street). Naked Angels company members Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are Honorary Co-Chairs for the event. Conceived as an imagined history of Naked Angels - and promising to be bigger than all of the company's previous parties put together - One Big Ball will be a frivolous and inauthentic romp through Naked Angels' 25 years, written and performed by Naked Angels members, with many friends and surprise guests. Naked Angels company member and Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello directs the evening.
