BWW Review: Stark and Informative WEDDING BAND from Intiman

Alice Childress' 'Wedding Band' is an important show-but can feel a bit academic. It isn't overwritten with clever gags or attention-grabbing circumstances, and while this can make the play feel slow, the creative skill of the cast and crew elevates the production.

Cast Complete for JAG Productions & ArtisTree's CHOIR BOY

The complete cast is set for the upcoming Vermont Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's CHOIR BOY, a gospel-infused play that will run at Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT. The show, directed by Jarvis Antonio Green, begins previews on November 3 and opens on November 5.

Book-It Presents Inventive Story about a Search for Home in A TALE FOR THE TIME BEING

Book-It Repertory Theatre opens its 27th season with A Tale for the Time Being this September. In Tokyo, 16-year-old Nao's only solace is her diary. Across the Pacific, Ruth is a novelist living on a remote island who discovers a collection of artifacts washed ashore in a Hello Kitty lunchbox-possibly debris from the devastating 2011 tsunami. As a mystery unfolds, Ruth is pulled into the past, into Nao's drama and her unknown fate, and forward into her own future.

Aurora Theatre Opens 25th Season with DEAR MASTER

Aurora Theatre Company proudly opens its 25th anniversary season with a revival of the play that started it all, DEAR MASTER. Joy Carlin (The How and The Why, Talley's Folly, Jack Goes Boating) helms this elegant portraitfeaturing Bay Area favorite Michael Ray Wisely (The Letters, The Arsonists) and Aurora's first leading lady Kimberly King (Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance), wife of Aurora co-founder Ken Grantham, who played Flaubert in the original production. DEAR MASTER plays September 2 through October 2 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. FUN HOME's Judy Kuhn Performs Tonight in Provincetown

Judy Kuhn is currently starring in the Tony Award winning Broadway musical 'Fun Home,' for which she was nominated for Tony and Drama League Award Nominations and won the Lucille Lortel Award. Tonight, July 29, and tomorrow, July 30, at 7:00 pm she joins the celebrated Broadway @ The Art House series, with Sirius XM radio star Seth Rudetsky as pianist and host.

Lincoln Center Theater to Continue Platform Series with OSLO's J.T. Rogers & Bartlett Sher

Lincoln Center Theater's Platform Series, a forum for public discussion between Lincoln Center Theater artists and interested theatergoers, begins its 19th season on Wednesday, July 6 at 6pm with J.T. ROGERS and BARTLETT SHER, the writer and director of LCT's production of the new play OSLO, currently in previews and opening on Monday, July 11 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. 

Writers Theatre Extends 'DEATH OF A STREETCAR'

Writers Theatre, under leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announces a second two-week extension of Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf: A Parody created by Tim Ryder and Tim Sniffen, written by Tim Sniffen and directed by Stuart Carden and Michael Halberstam. Due to demand, the production now runs through August 14, 2016, as the inaugural production of the Gillian Theatre at Writers Theatre's new theater center at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.

TOKYO FISH STORY Opens at The Old Globe Today

Kimber Lee's beautiful drama tokyo fish story, directed by May Adrales, opens today, June 2 at The Old Globe. The production runs through June 26, 2016, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $29.
