A representative for the show has confirmed to BWW that VENUS IN FUR playwright, David Ives, will write the book for HOUDINI. Ives has been attached to the project for a number of months, as first reported by BWW earlier this year in a video interview with Jack O'Brien. Aaron Sorkin had previously signed on to pen the production, but withdrew in January due to scheduling conflicts.

Anna Paquin's 'Rogue' Cut From X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST director Bryan Singer revealed that the editing team has nixed a rescue scene featuring Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman and Anna Paquin as Rogue. Because this was Paquin's only scene in the film, she will no longer be part of the project.
Hugh Jackman in Talks to Join PAN as Pirate 'Blackbeard'

From Warner Bros., PAN follows an orphan into Neverland, where he saves the natives and starts an uprising against the pirates, who are led by Blackbeard. Captain Hook is also set to make an appearance as 'Pan's close ally before turning bad.'

Award-winning actor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Jackman were honored by the David Lynch Foundation with an award for their lifetime of giving at the 5th annual Change Begins Within gala in New York City on Tuesday night. The David Lynch Foundation also honored FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano for his lifetime of service. Hugh Jackman-Led HOUDINI Now Aiming for Broadway Run in 2015-16 Season

Just yesterday, it was announced that the Hartman Group, the Broadway press agency that was slated to represent the new musical, would close its doors in January 2014. Since then, Houdini producer Scott Sanders told the New York Times that the show is now aiming for a run in the 2015-16 theatre season. He told the NYT: "I'm very supportive of Michael's decision, as I think everyone is, because this is certainly the time in one's life to do something like this. We'll figure out how to successfully transition some of our projects to another firm or elsewhere."
