Lighthouse Christian Publishing announces the release of 'Candy Moon,' a new children's picture book. This newest work by Londa Hayden offers a realistic and practical answer to parents who struggle with keeping Christ in Christmas for their children. What is the true meaning of Christmas? A question not asked often enough in this world of high-tech materialism. Candy Moon is a charming and endearing story that carries the theme of giving to those less fortunate. Parents and children alike, ages preK through third grade, will experience riding along with the Thompson family on their way to help a family in need, and their children realize the joy of giving.
This timeless children's picture book offers vivid illustrations by renowned artist and cartoonist, Nick Nixon. Bright colors light up each page from the toy shop train to Grandpa sharing the story of Jesus birth and a glowing candy moon at the end. The carefully crafted wording gives older children ease in reading to their younger siblings and friends. The familiar scripture of Christ birth, reminiscent of A Charlie Brown Christmas, is also included. A children's book of this nature is long overdue, and one surprisingly not available before now. In a world where traditional values are challenged, 'Candy Moon' fits well as a classic family favorite.
Nick Nixon owned and managed a graphic design studio, which employed a full time staff and four artists. His thriving business served local, national, and international clients for 35 years. Since retiring, Nick has concentrated his talents on cartoons, writing, and illustrations. His humor columns and cartoons have appeared in various publications. His current published works appear in 'Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Inner Strength' and 'Candy Moon.' Nick is writing and illustrating his own children's book series. He continues to help other children's book authors by illustrating their books, creating coloring books, and recording audio books. In his leisure time, he offers to do caricatures for patients at area cancer treatment centers. Nick also reads stories for day care programs at his church and provides copies of custom drawings related to that day's book for a coloring activity. Nick Nixon enjoys time with his thirteen grandchildren and imagines himself a legend in his own mind while attempting to play golf, which is in his words, 'a most humbling game.'
Londa Hayden is a native Texan now living in beautiful Tennessee with her husband and three sons. She studied music at East Texas Baptist University. Her experience in the medical field gave her the opportunity to volunteer during the Katrina crisis, which inspired the children's book Candy Moon. Londa is the founding president for Bartlett Christian Writers, and a staff writer for Southern Writers Magazine. Her memoir Date, Pray, Wait inspired a blog by the same name which offers Christian dating advice. Even though Londa has been happily married to Steve, her first and only husband for almost three decades, she believes a healthy couple never stops dating. She hopes her golden years will bring lots of grand-babies and camping trips to inspire more fun children's books.
'Candy Moon' is available at bookstores everywhere. You may order online at Amazon.com. Soon to come is the ebook and audio book versions. For a free coloring book, available while supplies last, contact Londa at londahayden@gmail.com.

As we approach the 50th Anniversary of the passage of New York City's Landmarks Law in 2015, it is especially timely that we have the privilege to announce Meenakshi Srinivasan, Chair of the Landmarks Preservation Commission, as the Honorary Chair of A Christmas Carol at the Merchant's House Benefit Gala. The Merchant's House was the first building designated a landmark in the Borough of Manhattan at the inaugural meeting of the Landmarks Preservation Commission in September 1965.
On the next episode of ABC's NASHVILLE titled "You're Lookin' At Country", it's country music's biggest night of the year at the 48th Annual CMA Awards in Nashville.
While NASHVILLE's writers have been described (by me) as leaning on the cliché side, having a flair for the dramatic, and trying to multitask too much at once, at the start of this episode they've gotten it right. The quick, influential one-liners that pretty much perfectly depict where our favorite characters are right now lead the episode- starting with a stubborn Avery and Juliette.

Hip hop is the beating heart of Forum Theatre's tender coming-of-age story of three suburban teens honing their talents and searching for acceptance and authenticity. How We Got On brings us back to the late 80s hip hop scene when Yo! MTV Raps was the authority of what was cutting edge in music and a rap battle could settle a score. The teens balance their growing friendship and mutual respect with the threat each poses to the others' authority and skill.
