The Theatre Centre Announces 2019/20 Programming

Artistic Director Aislinn Rose announced The Theatre Centre's 201920 programming today at one of the company's signature (and delicious) community meals. The focus of the year ahead is on the idea of "reckless generosity".

Casting Announced For OLD STOCK: A REFUGEE LOVE STORY At Wilton's Music Hall

Full casting is announced today for OLD STOCK: A REFUGEE LOVE STORY, a dizzying 80 minute, genre bending, darkly funny gig-meets-live theatre experience based on a true story of two Jewish Romanian refugees fleeing Romania for Canada in 1908. Covering sex, religion, tragedy and triumph, the show follows Chaim and Chaya as they make a fresh start in the New World. Joining previously announced Ben Caplan and Mary Fay Coady are Eric Da Costa, Jeff Kingsbury and Kelsey McNulty.

Dangerous Love In The Time Of Stalin Presented In Hannah Moscovitch's THE RUSSIAN PLAY

Diana Donnelly directs this season's Lunchtime One-Act, The Russian Play - a tale that pays homage to the bleak realism and humour of the great Russian playwrights. Written by award-winning Canadian playwright Hannah Moscovitch, this satirical Siberian love story begins previews Saturday at The Shaw's Royal George Theatre.

Five Plays To Be Translated At A One Of A Kind Artist Retreat From Playwrights' Workshop Montreal

From June 12 to 22, Playwrights' Workshop Montr al (PWM), in partnership with the Cole Foundation, and with the support of donations made in memory of the great Canadian theatre artist, Bill Glassco, will host the 16th edition of the Glassco Translation Residency. Unique in the country, the retreat which takes place in the historic Fletcher Cottage, in breathtaking Tadoussac, Qu bec, gives translators time, space, and dramaturgical support to translate a play. The translators and playwrights are paired for ten days under the same magical roof to discuss and explore the universe of the play as it is being translated.

40th Annual Dora Awards Nominations Announced: Soulpepper Takes Home 25 Nominations, DEAR EVAN HANSEN Taps 9 Noms

At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

MTC Announces Full Cast For CONTINUITY

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) are pleased to announce the complete casting for the world premiere of Continuity, the new play by Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominee Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds, American Hero) and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). Alberta Theatre Projects Announces Their 2019/2020 Season

OLD STOCK: A REFUGEE LOVE STORY Extended At Segal Centre

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to present the Montreal premiere of Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story co-produced by 2b theatre company and the National Arts Centre. Co-created by Hannah Moscovitch, Ben Caplan, and Christian Barry, and starring musician Ben Caplan, this international cult hit is inspired by the real-life love story of Moscovitch's great-grandparents immigration to Canada. It is being presented in association with the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival.

Imago Theatre Presents Hannah Moscovitch Play That Explores Parenthood And Privilege

Other People's Children is a layered exploration of parenthood, privilege and the ethics of migrant care work. From October 25-November 4 at the Centaur, Imago Theatre will present the Quebec premiere of indie sensation (The Toronto Star) Hannah Moscovitch's Other People's Children. The play will be directed by "one of Canada's leading feminist artists" (The Calgary Herald) and the Artistic Director of Imago Theatre, Micheline Chevrier.
