The Lover and The Collection will run from September 26-October 29 at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW).
Penobscot Theatre Company kicks off its 2017-2018 Season with the Maine premiere of an a cappella play with music both traditional and timely. The Fabulous Lipitones tells the story of a contemporary barbershop quartet that loses its tenor to a strenuously high B-flat before a major national competition. A scramble ensues to find a suitable replacement, and the best candidate takes everyone by surprise. The production runs from September 7-24, beginning with two discounted previews on September 7-8. All performances will take place at the newly refurbished Bangor Opera House, 131 Main Street, Bangor.

Now he has to decide whether he owes his loyalty to himself, to his bosses, or to long-time family friend Faye and the younger workers on the line, Dez and Shanita. In the spirit of August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, this third play from Morisseau's Detroit Trilogy explores the hard choices facing Americans barely squeezing by. It was named by the New York Times as 'one of six plays that reckon with an anxious America.'

The production, the miracle on 48th Street, originally scheduled to close on June 25, was instead extended for six more weeks, as a result of increased ticket sales and passionate audience response.
