SALON/SANCTUARY CONCERTS opens its fifth season with the return of 'THE HEIRS OF TANTALUS'.

During the past 32 years Nakabayashi has driven more than 10,000 kilometers and performed for more than 200,000 persons in Japan giving 'Serenade Concerts' in relatively isolated communities shunned by top performers. By these concerts, Nakabayashi has raised more than 15 million yen for the Japanese Red Cross, and has been given a citation of appreciation for this. Nakabayashi provided all of the background music, playing guitar, for a Japanese CD release of Gregory Peck's reading of The Old Man and the Sea. La Jolla Playhouse, in association with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, has announced casting for its re-imagining of Henry Krieger (music) and Bill Russell's (book and lyrics) Side Show, produced in association with the Kennedy Center. Helmed by Academy Award-winning director Bill Condon and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast, the production will run in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre November 5 - December 15, 2013 and will run in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater June 14 - July 13, 2014. Shattered Globe Theatre has announced its 22nd Season, to be performed in its new artistic home as a resident theatre company at Chicago's Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. The 2013-14 Season kicks off this fall with Jerry Sterner's provocative play OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY, directed by Victory Gardens Artistic Director Emeritus Dennis Zacek. La Jolla Playhouse is proud to announce its 2013/2014 resident theatre company: Teatro Mascara Magica. Spearheaded by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, the Resident Theatre Program aims to encourage the artistic development of performing arts organizations, while advancing and contributing to the San Diego theatre scene as a whole. The program provides a temporary home each year to one of the many local troupes without a permanent venue.

On June 4 she will be releasing nationwide an EP titled Love to Dance that will include several new original tracks as well as a remix. In advance of the EP release she will be releasing her first single titled “Party” on May 7.

La Jolla Playhouse announced today that nationally-renowned scenic designer Robert Brill has been named the theatre's inaugural Artist-in-Residence. This new, multi-month residency program, supported in part by a generous donation from Playhouse Director Emeritus Des McAnuff, is designed to give artists the freedom to focus on their ongoing body of work while becoming fully integrated into all aspects of the institution, from the stage to the boardroom to the classroom. In addition to designing the sets for His GirlFriday and Sideways this season, Brill will participate in the Playhouse's artistic planning, education and outreach activities, lead master classes at UC Dan Diego and serve as a community liaison for arts advocacy in San Diego, among other Playhouse activities.
