Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the world premiere of Sammy, a new musical based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr. with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and additional songs by Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Directed by Keith Glover with choreography by Keith Young and music supervision by Ian Fraser, Sammy will run in the Old Globe Theatre Sept. 19 - Nov. 8. Previews run from Sept. 19 - Oct. 1. Opening night is Oct. 2 at 8:00 p.m.
Friends In Deed has tapped Tommy Tune's brand new road show, Steps in Time, for their one-night-only spectacular Broadway Benefit Gala which will take place at The Gerald W. Producers Angelo Fraboni and Daryl Roth have announced that the New York premiere of Vigil, written by Morris Panych and directed by Stephen DiMenna, will begin performances Sunday, September 20, at 3pm at the DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15 Street, east of Union Square. Recording Artist and Multi-award winning Broadway Star Chester Gregory returns to the musical stage as the lead in the revival of 'Dreamgirls'. 'Dreamgirls' tells the rags-to-riches story of an up-and-coming 1960's girl group from Chicago, and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune.
The festival will include performances by the faculty and students, as well as seminars by faculty members including Jed Bernstein and Dave Clemmons. Workshops taking place during the project will also be featured including directors such as Frank Wildhorn, David Loud and Christopher D'Amboise.
Actor, performer, dancer, singer, tap sensation and US Air Force welterweight boxing champion, Joe Orrach has performed worldwide on stage, television and in motion pictures with greats such as Gregory Hines, Woody Allen, Savion Glover, Honi Coles, and James Mangold.
