Billy Crystal's 700 SUNDAYS Begins Performances on Broadway Tonight

Billy Crystal returns to Broadway tonight to kick off a 9-week-only limited engagement of his Tony Award-winning, record-breaking play 700 SUNDAYS. Opening night is set for Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) and the final performance will be Sunday, January 5, 2014. 700 SUNDAYS is performed and written by Mr. Crystal with additional content byAlan Zweibel and direction by Des McAnuff.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College started off its 2013-2014 season with the bang of Savion Glover's tap shoes. The venue hosted a performance of Savion Glover's STePz on November 2nd. In the program, Glover listed himself simply as "hoofer, father, husband." Nevertheless, it is undeniable that Glover is a living icon. Glover first appeared on Broadway at the age of 12 in The Tap Dance Kid. By his early 20s, Glover was nominated for a Tony Award for his choreography Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. Many millenials grew up watching Glover as a featured performer on Sesame Street and today's children see him as the man behind the tap-dancing penguin in Happy Feet.

Well, it all comes down to this. Four months of auditions, partnerships, All-Stars, and voting will culminate in tonight's Season 10 Finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Tonight Mary Murphy, Cat Deeley, Nigel Lyhgoe, and an undoubtedly eclectic cast of assembled characters will announce 'America's Favorite Dancers!' This year, contemporary dancers Jasmine Harper and Amy Yakima are vying for the women's title, and hip hopper Fik-shun is hoping beyond hope that he can pull the biggest upset since the US Hockey Team beat Russia in the 1980 Winter Olympics and steal the crown from tap dancer Aaron Turner.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents In My Corner, a singular new play byLizbeth Hasse and Joe Orrach that works boxing, tap dance and music into the story of a street smart, wise guy Puerto Rican kid from New York City who comes of age in the ring and at the barre. Jeremiah Chechik (Benny & Joon, Diabolique) directs Orrach in an exhilarating performance that takes off to the beat of an original score by Matthew Clark, performed live on stage by Clark on piano, Eugene Warren on bass and percussionist Ronnie Gutierrez.
