In the wake of the Broadway triumph of the Tony Award-winning musical hit MEMPHIS, theater bigwigs from across the country gathered at TheatreWorks last weekend to see what new works the nationally acclaimed theater of Silicon Valley is laying its hands on next.

Christian Campbell, the star of Reefer Madness: The Musical, tick, tick... BOOM! and Trick, will headline the cast of the New York premiere of Magnetic North, a play by William Donnelly about the perilous space between flirtation and betrayal.

Joining Campbell in the cast are Scott Richard Foster (Broadway's Brooklyn the Musical, Sessions), Heather Lee Harper (Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange) and Sarah Shahinian (Lincoln Center's Picnic at Hanging Rock). The production is directed by Jeremy Dobrish (Signs of Life, Spain, Judas and Me).

Meeting Christian Campbell at a mid-town diner finds him to be friendly and articulate. He's just spent the day rehearsing a new play called MAGNETIC NORTH and is brimming over with excitement about it.

The Fifth Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Artists, produced by Goodspeed Musicals' Max Showalter Center for Education in the Musical Theater, kicks off its much anticipated three day festival of brand new works on Friday, January 15, at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of Hello Out There. On Saturday, January 16, the triple feature musical ReWrite debuts.  On the final day of the festival, Lincoln in Love will be presented. Several special events will round out this exciting weekend.
