NNPN to Present Rolling World Premieres for Beckim's LIGHTS RISE ON GRACE and Yee's IN A WORD in 2015

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces its 48th and 49th Rolling World Premieres: Chad Beckim's Lights Rise on Grace and Lauren Yee's in a word, as well as openings for its 43rd, 44th, and 47th plays, Uncanny Valley by Thomas Gibbons, Colossal by Andrew Hinderaker, and River City by Diana Grisanti.

Dallas Theater Center Presents Rolling World Premiere of COLOSSAL, Now thru 5/3

?Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the rolling world premiere of Colossal, a new play by Andrew Hinderaker. DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty directs the Kennedy Center Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award-winning play, which is choreographed by founder and artistic director of Dark Circles Contemporary Dance Joshua L. Peugh. Colossal begins with previews tonight, April 2 with a Pay-What-You-Can performance and runs through Sunday, May 3.

Irish Theatre of Chicago to Premiere THE WHITE ROAD, 4/30-6/13

Irish Theatre of Chicago, formerly Seanachai Theatre Company, concludes its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere drama THE WHITE ROAD by founding ensemble member Karen Tarjan*, directed by ensemble member Robert Kauzlaric*, playing April 30 - June 13, 2015 at its resident home, The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago.

AMERICAN BUFFALO to Open 4/16 at Newnan Theatre Company

Don, owner of a junk shop, has sold a buffalo nickel to a coin collector for only $90.00. He regrets the sale, believing that the coin is worth much more. So he and his two buddies, Teach and Buddy, plan to steal the coin back. The story is ostensibly about a burglary, but the real center of interest is the way the characters deal with each other when their plans start to fall through.

Public Theater's Mobile Shakespeare Unit to Tour MACBETH

The Public Theater announced today that it will continue its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement with the arts by expanding its MOBILE SHAKESPEARE UNIT to include a spring touring production of MACBETH to the five boroughs. Directed by Edward Torres, the free Mobile Unit tour (April 24 - May 14) will bring free Shakespeare to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting prisons, homeless shelters, and other community venues, including stops at our Public Works community partner venues: Brownsville Recreation Center in Brooklyn, Fortune Society in Queens and DreamYard Project in the Bronx. Following the three-week tour, MACBETH will have a limited sit-down run at The Public Theater from May 17 through June 7, with an official press opening on Wednesday, May 20. The Mobile Shakespeare Unit toured Pericles last fall.

Mary Zimmerman makes her long-awaited San Diego directing debut with an enchanting theatrical spectacle with live music and sumptuous visuals, THE WHITE SNAKE. The Southern California Premiere of The White Snake, written and directed by Zimmerman, will runs through April 26 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Lynn Nottage's most recent play, By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, takes a look at a serious topic in a lighthearted way. Through humor tinged with pathos, we see Vera Stark shapeshift to fit the expectations of the racial stereotypes of the 1930s.

World Premiere of BODY & BLOOD Set for Gift Theatre, 6/18-8/9

The Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton announces the world premiere of smart, exhilarating new play Body & Blood by Gift Co-Founder and playwright, William Nedved and directed by Marti Lyons, who previously directed Bethany last season and recently directed Thornton in Lookingglass' Title and Deed. Co-produced with Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, CT, brownsville song (b-side for Tray) is directed by Eric Ting, and features a cast including Sung Yun Cho, Curtiss Cook, Jr., Catrina Ganey, Anthony Martinez-Briggs, and Kaatje Welsh.

Opening night is tonight, March 26 at 8:00 p.m.
