Steep Theatre's 15th Season to Include World Premieres, U.S. Premieres & More

Steep Theatre is thrilled to announce the programming for its upcoming, landmark 15th season.  The slate of shows will celebrate many of the elements that have defined this company since its inception and established it as one of the most vibrant companies in Chicago: bold scripts from today's most exciting writers; fearlessly honest ensemble work; and visionary directors.  Steep's 15th season features a U.S. premiere from 2015 Tony Award winner and Steep Associate Playwright Simon Stephens; a world premiere from playwright and veteran stage and screen actor Hamish Linklater; a U.S. Premiere from one of Britain's most celebrated writers Laura Wade; and a local premiere from Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Samuel D. Hunter. 

FIVE PRESIDENTS Begins Tonight at Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater has announced that FIVE PRESIDENTS, the new play by Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (Six Feet Under, The West Wing, and House of Cards), will extend its run for an additional week due to popular demand. The production will now run from tonight, June 23-July 19.

World Premiere of BODY & BLOOD Set for Gift Theatre, Now thru 8/9

The Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton announces the world premiere of smart, exhilarating new play Body & Blood by Gift Co-Founder and playwright, William Nedved and directed by Marti Lyons, who previously directed Bethany last season and recently directed Thornton in Lookingglass' Title and Deed. Body & Blood features Gift ensemble members Lynda Newton (The Royal Society of Antarctica) and Gabe Franken (Thinner Than Water) with guest artists Cyd Blakewell (Griffin Theatre Company's Balm in Gilead), Stephen Spencer (Remy Bumppo's Our Class) and Nicholas Harazin (Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Macbeth).

Actors Theatre of Louisville Receives Grant from The Roy Cockrum Foundation

Actors Theatre of Louisville's Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein announce that the theatre is the recipient of a major grant awarded from The Roy Cockrum Foundation in support of the theatre's prestigious Apprentice/Intern Company. The award will support grants over the next ten years for each apprentice and intern during the nine-month program, and provides year-round employment for the program's leadership. The Apprentice/Intern Company offers total immersion into the world of a major American regional theatre and a unique combination of performance, training, observation and networking.

Palo Alto Players Present CHINGLISH, Now thru 6/28

?Come see CHINGLISH, a new comedy about the misadventures of miscommunication, opening in June at Palo Alto Players.  This comedy was written by David Henry Hwang, the award-winning playwright of M. Butterfly.

Victory Gardens Stages Midwest Premiere of THE WHO & THE WHAT, Now thru 7/12

Victory Gardens Theater presents the final show of its 40th anniversary season, the Midwest Premiere of The Who & the What by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Ron OJ Parson. Music Theatre Wichita Opens Season with AIDA Tonight

Music Theatre Wichita opens its 44th summer season June 10-14 with the first of its five large-scale productions, Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida at Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS. This marks the 28th season for producing artistic director Wayne Bryan.
