Elaine Paige is heading back to the New York stage later this month in PIAF: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION, and she's opening up with Out's Michael Musto about her career. The West End, who originated roles in Evita, Cats, and more, legend told Musto: 'The more years pass, I look back and think, "Who was that girl?" It seems a lifetime ago. I consider myself very lucky to have been part of the new musicals coming out of England. It was the renaissance of British musicals, so I feel very fortunate [to be involved] at the time Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice were writing those shows. Yes, I am proud.'
Producers Daniel Nardicio and Andy Brattain will honor Edith Piaf, the iconic French songstress on her actual 100th Birthday with PIAF: A CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION with stars from Broadway, London's West End, Jazz, Cabaret and Rock 'n' Roll. The finale of Season 15 of the popular and acclaimed series Broadway by the Year will be June 22 at 8 P.M. at Town Hall and feature tunes from every year during the last quarter century of Broadway [from 1991]. 'Thrilling,' 'exciting' and 'amazing' is how the cast members of Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute's upcoming production of A CHORUS LINE described the time they spent with Broadway veteran Gay Marshall. Marshall, whose credits include both the Broadway and National Touring companies of A CHORUS LINE, grew up in Cleveland and caught the theatre bug taking classes at the Cleveland Playhouse. She recently observed a rehearsal at the Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights and shared stories and tips with the fascinated group of young performers as they readied their show for its August 1 opening.
