OPEN REHEARSAL READINGS TODAY, JUNE 15-16 The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) announces the creative teams and casting for the two original book musicals, The Last Queen of Canaan, with music by Jacob Yandura and book and lyrics by Rebekah Greer Melocik, and Mrs. Hughes, with music and lyrics by Sharon Kenny and book by Janine Nabers, which will be developed in an intensive lab setting in New Haven, June 4-16. The residency culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, today, June 15 and the 16th, 2013.
UnsungMusicalsCo. (UMC), in a collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, will record three songs from the little-known 1947 musical comedy Barefoot Boy With Cheek featuring performances by Jenn Colella (Chaplin, Closer Than Ever), Max von Essen(Evita, Death Takes a Holiday) and Robert Lenzi (South Pacific, Hello Again). UMC's recordings will be released for free digital download on the New York Public Library's website as part of its Musical of the Month blog series, which recently featured UMC's reconstruction of the Barefoot Boy libretto. The musical has never received a cast album.
Noel & Company will present a staged reading of Liliom by Ferenc Molnar at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) on Tuesday April 23rd at 7PM. The reading will be the second installment in Noel & Company's festival honoring the work of Eva Le Gallienne. Artistic Director Keith Merrill will direct, and Anne Kaufman will produce the event.
Hunter Ryan Herdlicka just made his 54 Below debut after almost two years starring on Broadway in the Tony Award Winning revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music, playing opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, followed by Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch. Last night, March 25, Hunter performed his new show 'You Make Me Feel So Young' that recently played to sold-out crowds at the Austin Cabaret Theatre in Austin, TX. Beginning February 12, Andrew Samonsky will join the company and assume the role of 'Neville Landless'. Original cast member Andy Karl will play his final performance on February 10.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will produce, in association with La Jolla Playhouse, a re-imagining of Henry Krieger and Bill Russell's Side Show. Directed by Academy Award winning director Bill Condon, the musical will play at La Jolla Playhouse November 5 through December 17 and will play the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater in spring 2014, according to an equity casting notice. The musical features book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger who will revise the show before its debut at La Jolla.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that Erin Davie will join the critically acclaimed new Broadway production of Rupert Holmes' Tony Award winning musical comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Betsy Wolfe continues as "Rosa Bud" through February 10th and Erin Davie will assume the role beginning February 12th, 2013.

Originally written circa 1955, the previously unproduced play is adapted and directed by Ben West (At Home Abroad, Make Mine Manhattan, Gatsby).
