The Fall 2012 semester started off on a high note at William Peace University as Broadway performers Courtney Balan (CRY-BABY, [TITLE OF SHOW]) and Kilty Reidy (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, IN MY LIFE) recently paid a visit to the school's BFA Musical Theater students and conducted a week-long residency teaching master classes in voice, acting and dance. Director Rob Ruggierio's production of the classic, like the ups and downs experienced while riding a carousel horse (the carousel is wonderfully recreated for the prologue on the restrictive Goodspeed stage), has moments of delight and some disappointments.
According to a recent announcement from Goodspeed Opera House, Broadway veteran Teal Wicks will join previously annouced Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox in the Broadway-bound tour of JEKYLL AND HYDE. Wicks will play 'Emma' in the show.

Broadway and television actor Jason Kravits (Relatively Speaking, "The Practice") will host "Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music", a little over one week after what would have been Oscar Hammerstein II's 117th birthday, tonight, July 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Bucks County Playhouse (70 South Main Street). The presentation will be preceded by a special outdoor BBQ Style dinner hosted by Hamilton's Grill Room beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Last night, July 2, was the Bucks County Playhouse re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as the first performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's A Grand Night for Singing. The first production of the Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) 2012 summer season, A Grand Night for Singing will run through Sunday, July 29th. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place 73 years and a day after The Playhouse first opened in 1939. Special guests included Mayor Laurence Keller (New Hope), Chris Hart (son of Moss Hart), Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Cawley, Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick (U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district), and Will Hammerstein (Grandson of Oscar Hammerstein II).
