The "Alley Theatre @ UH" season begins with Elizabeth Ashley and Hallie Foote in the southwestern premiere of Horton Foote's wonderfully entertaining The Old Friends, directed byMichael Wilson. Alley Resident Actors Jay Sullivan, James Black, and Jeffrey Bean, and returning artist Jeremy Webb lead the cast of Dracula, the Original Vampire Play, a production that will include the iconic designs by Edward Gorey, directed by Artistic Director Gregory Boyd. Boyd also directsShakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It featuring Alley Resident Actors Elizabeth Bunch, Chris Hutchison and Todd Waite. Resident Actor James Black and Josie de Guzman lead the cast in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, directed by renowned playwright Theresa Rebeck. The Southwestern debut of Britain's innovative and exciting theatre company Kneehigh follows, with an inventive and imaginative production of Tristan & Yseult, based on the Arthurian romance. Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean returns to a favorite role in the riotous tour de force The Foreigner.
Following the record-breaking attendance of Festival 2013, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival announces the full 2014 Festival free and ticketed event schedule. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, home to America's longest-running dance festival, and a recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Noted dance writer Jennifer Dunning has called the Pillow "the dance center of the nation, possibly the world."

This summer the Music Institute of Chicago's prestigious Trio Solaris, comprised of the Institute's top Fellow Laureates, will travel to the internationally renowned Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts, to perform live alongside Trey McIntyre Project (TMP) in The Vinegar Works: Four Dances of Moral Instruction, a Harris Theater-commissioned work. Trey McIntyre Project will present its final six performances at Jacob's Pillow, June 25-June 29, in a program that will include The Vinegar Works and Mercury Half-Life, a ballet set entirely to the music of rock band Queen Thanks to the generous support of a Harris Theater benefactor, all travel-related costs for the members of Trio Solaris will be covered during the trip.

The performance on Thursday, April 3 at 7:30PM will include live musical accompaniment from the young stars of the Music Institute of Chicago. This exciting work, organized and led by the Harris Theater, pairs one of the city's finest cultural institutions with one of the country's foremost contemporary dance ensembles. The commission centers on the Theater's mission to collaborate with, and present, Chicago's midsize and emerging arts organizations in innovative ways.

Actors Theatre of Louisville Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Jennifer Bielstein have announced the three ten-minute plays chosen to premiere during the 38th Humana Festival of New American Plays (February 26 - April 6, 2014). This year's ten-minute plays are Winter Games by Rachel Bonds, Some Prepared Remarks (A History in Speech) by Jason Gray Platt and Poor Shem by Gregory Hischak.
