The Colonial Theatre Presents 'Hot Tuna Blues' Concert 2/9

Hot Tuna Blues is coming to the Colonial for a one-night only concert event on Wednesday, February 9 at 7:30pm. The performance joins Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady) with Chicago blues icon Charlie Musselwhite and singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale. The acoustic and electric energy of Hot Tuna is injected with the harmonic sounds of Musselwhite and country-bluegrass infusion of Lauderdale resulting in an invigorating evening of blues and classic Americana.

R.E.M. have announced that Warner Bros. Records will release their upcoming new album, Collapse Into Now, on March 8th, 2011. The full-track-listing, which was revealed on R.E.M.'s official website on November 25th, is below. Yesterday, a free download of 'Discoverer' was made available to fans that signed up for R.E.M.'s email list via www.remhq.com. Those who preorder Collapse Into Now on iTunes the week of December 20th will receive an instant download of 'It Happened Today.'

2011 Tony Eligibility Deadline to Move?

It's not just the venue that might be moving for the 2011 Tony Awards (Radio City is booked). The New York Times is reporting that the normal end of April cutoff for Tony eligibility might be moved earlier this year. The Times quotes an email from Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of the Broadway League saying that:

STAGE TUBE: All About the United Palace Theatre - Potential Tonys Home

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier today, the Tony Awards may take up residence at the United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights (175th and Broadway) for the 2011 ceremony, now that their 13 year occupation of Radio City Music Hall in midtown is complete. (Radio City will be occupied with a Cirque du Soliel production during Tony time next year). While the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, who present the Tonys, have not yet released an official statement on the move, published reports suggest that CBS, the Tonys broadcasting network, has confirmed the 3,400+ seat United Palace Theatre as the new ceremony space.

RIALTO CHATTER: Tony Awards to Find New Home in Uptown's United Palace Theatre for 2011?

Michael Ridel reports in the New York Post this morning that the Tony Awards may be taking up shop in a surprising location next year: specifically, the United Palace Theatre at 175th and Broadway. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the Tony Awards will not be returning to its longtime home of 13 years at Radio City Music Hall come next year and have been in search of an appropriate replacement venue for some time. Radio City will be unavailable next year, as it will be housing a new Cirque du Soliel production.
