The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theater Company, continues their 25th season with the World Premiere of Lloyd Suh's CHARLES FRANCIS CHAN, JR.'S EXOTIC ORIENTAL MURDER MYSTERY. The OBIE Award-winning NAATCO, National Asian American Theater Company, continues their 25th season with the World Premiere of ??Lloyd Suh's Charles Francis Chan, Jr.'s Exotic Oriental Murder Mystery. Ed Sylvanus Iskandar directs a cast that includes Jeff Biehl, Jennifer Ikeda, Peter Kim, Orville Mendoza, KK Moggie and Jeffrey Omura. This Off-Broadway limited engagement at Walker Space (46 Walker Street) will begin October 26th, with Opening Night set for November 2nd.  Performances continue through November 21st only.

 New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) is currently accepting applications for the 2016/17 season of its 2050 Fellowship program for emerging playwrights and directors. Applications are due October 19, 2015 at 5pm EST.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Chase Brock has boarded the artistic team of Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Sunday in the Park with George as the production's Musical Stager.

Dorset Theatre Festival's 2015 New Play Reading Series concludes on Monday, August 24th with Kate Moira Ryan's Hipsterly Ever After. Ryan is a New York-based playwright whose play The Beebo Brinker Chronicles, produced off-Broadway by Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner, won a GLAAD Award. She was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn prize for her play Hadley's Mistake. She has received numerous fellowships including the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship to EST, the Sundance Institute, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. Directing the reading is Mark Armstrong, Director of New Work for off-Broadway's Keen Company and the Executive Director for The 24 Hour Plays. Recent directing credits include Christopher Shinn's The Coming World, Lucas Hnath's Odile's Ordeal (both Williamstown) and Dan O'Brien's From Kandahar to Canada (EST).

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced the playwrights and directors selected for the 2015/16 season 2050 Fellowship. The playwrights are Nathan Alan Davis, Hansol Jung and Patricia Ione Lloyd and the directors are Noelle Ghoussaini, Alexandru Mihail and Danya Taymor. 

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival opens its outdoor theatre the weekend of June 12-14 with Shakespeare's ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, directed by Bill Rauch; the world-premiere musical by Jeff Whitty with music and lyrics by the Go-Go's, HEAD OVER HEELS, directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar; and Alexandre Dumas's THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, directed by Marcela Lorca. The shows will close the weekend of October 9-11.

Producer Flora Q. Johnstone announced today the Whisper House, a new play with music, written by Obie Award-winner Kyle Jarrow (A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant) and composed by Grammy and Tony Award-winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) with lyrics by Jarrow and Sheik, conceived with Keith Powell, will receive a workshop this week at Arts Emerson in Boston, MA. Directed by Drama Desk-winner Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (The Mysteries and The Golden Dragon), the private industry presentation of Whisper House will take place on Friday, February 20, 2015. Artist Mark Holthusen (known for his work with Roger Waters and rock band Tiger Lilies) joins the team as a visual designer.

With the third and fourth shows of the Shakespeare Theatre Company's current season underway, Artistic Director Michael Kahn announced today the Company's 2015-2016 Season. Kahn has put together a season of contrasts and striking new voices, with international directors and adaptors bringing provocative approaches to the classics to Washington, D.C.

Opening at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a world premiere musical HEAD OVER HEELS, with book by Jeff Whitty and music and lyrics from the catalog of the Go-Go's.

Signature Theatre presents the U.S. Premiere of And I and Silence by Naomi Wallace, directed by Caitlin McLeod. The production runs now through September 14, 2014. The show opened last night, August 25, in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Playwrights commissioned by Jim Simpson and Carol Ostrow including Tony Award and Academy Award winners and nominees David Henry Hwang, Craig Lucas, Billy Porter, Jose Rivera and Jeff Whitty; Flea alumni, Mallery Avidon, Trista Baldwin, Erin Courtney, Yussef El Guindi, Amy Freed, Sean Graney, Nick Jones, Qui Nguyen, and Jenny Schwartz; and a host of notable newcomers, Marc Acito, Johnna Adams, Liz Duffy Adams, Bill Cain, CollaborationTown, Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas, Eisa Davis, Gabriel Jason Dean, Chris Dimond, Madeleine George, Kate Gersten, Sevan K. Greene, Kirsten Greenidge, Lillian Groag, Jordan Harrison, Lucas Hnath, Ann Marie Healy, Meghan Kennedy, Kimber Lee, Kenneth Lin, Laura Marks, Ellen McLaughlin, Michael Mitnick, Don Nguyen, Dael Orlandersmith, A. Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.
