FOUR EVANGELISTS WALK INTO A FOG By Douglas Lackey Comes To TNC

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John wrote four differing gospels and created Christianity. These four evangelists actually never met, but they do--as members of a comedic literary synod --in 'Four Evangelists Walk into a Fog' by Douglas Lackey. The results are hilarious and profound. Theater for the New City (TNC), which has been Lackey's theatrical home since 2003, will present the work's premiere run May 1 to 18, directed by Mark Harborth.

Lower East SIde Festival Of The Arts Set For Next Month

With the roster still building, Theater for the New City has currently scheduled over 200 performing arts organizations, independent artists, poets, puppeteers and film makers for its 29th annual Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, which will be mounted May 24 to 26 in and around Theater for the New City.

THE WAYWARD DAUGHTER OF JUDAH THE PRINCE to be Presented by Theater for a New City

'The Wayward Daughter of Judah the Prince' by Douglas Lackey begins in Palestine in the late second century C.E. Learn how to get tickets to the show, in which Hannah is the dutiful and learned daughter of Judah the Prince, compiler of The Mishnah--the core section of The Talmud.  She serves her father as his loyal daughter and scribe.

Theater for the New City Presents LUDWIG AND BERTIE

'Ludwig and Bertiea?? by Douglas Lackey examines the relationship of two leading twentieth century philosophers, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Bertrand Russell.  Theater for the New City (TNC) will present the play's world premiere run September 26 to October 13, directed by Alexander Harrington.

Theater For The New City To Present ARENDT-HEIDEGGER: A LOVE STORY

Martin Heidegger and Hannah Arendt were leading intellectuals of the twentieth century. In the 1920's, they had a passionate affair. In the 1930's, Heidegger became an ardent Nazi while Arendt became an ardent Zionist. Nevertheless, after the war, they still continued to correspond and to meet. Douglas Lackey dramatizes their relationship in 'Arendt-Heidegger: A Love Story,' a five-character play to be presented by Theater for the New City from September 27 to October 14. Its dialogue and action go beyond known facts, but everything in the play is consistent with them. Alexander Harrington directs.

DAYLIGHT PRECISION Runs Now thru 3/16 at TNC

'Daylight Precision' by Douglas Lackey takes us back to World War II and into the great moral controversies involving strategic bombing. Should we bomb cities, or military targets? The United States began by avoiding cities but ended up destroying them. Lackey shows how the change came about by tracing the careers of Generals Haywood Hansell and 'Bomb them back to the Stone Age' Curtis LeMay. Lackey writes, '700,000 civilians lost their lives because Hansell lost his command to LeMay. Hansell is the unsung tragic hero of World War II.' Theater for the New City will present this new work tonight, February 21 to March 16, directed by Alexander Harrington.
