Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2012-2013 season with Mozart's Don Giovanni, September 20 to October 13 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Powerhouse Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov stars in the title role for most performances, while Tony Award® winning Brazilian baritone Paulo Szot (South Pacific) sings the title role on October 9. This WNO production, last seen in 2007, is directed by John Pascoe and conducted by WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin.

The Met's popular Summer HD Festival returns for its fourth year on August 25, with ten free outdoor screenings of acclaimed performances from the Met's award-winning Live in HD series. The festival, which more than 40,000 people attended last year, kicks off with a screening of the Met's recent world premiere hit The Enchanted Island, a Baroque pastiche which stars David Daniels, Joyce DiDonato, and Placido Domingo.

Washington National Opera (WNO) opens its 2012-2013 season with Gaetano Donizetti's Anna Bolena, September 15 to October 6 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Celebrated American soprano Sondra Radvanovsky returns to WNO to make her role debut as Anne Boleyn. This striking production, new to Washington, is directed by Stephen Lawless, and the WNO Orchestra will be led by Italian conductor Antonello Allemandi in his WNO debut.

Juni nun doch auch bereits die Vorstellung vom 24. Juni singen können. Hibla Gerzmava, die für Diana Damrau eingesprungen wäre und selbst erkrankt ist, wurde in der ersten von Brenda Rae ersetzt und musste nun auch die zweite Vorstellung absagen.

Brenda Rae springt am 20. Juni 2012 an der Wiener Staatsoper als Lucia di Lammermoor anstelle der erkrankten Hibla Gerzmava ein und gibt damit ihr Hausdebüt im Haus am Ring.

Das erste Solistenkonzert der neuen Spielzeit 2012/2013 der Wiener Staatsoper wird am 23. Oktober 2012 Jonas Kaufmann anstelle von Diana Damrau gestalten, die diesen Auftritt aufgrund ihrer Schwangerschaft absagen musste. Am Klavier: Helmut Deutsch.

WNO also expands its season to include a family production of Hansel and Gretel in the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater, extends its Celebrity Concert Series with performances by opera stars Nathan Gunn and Diana Damrau plus a recital by rising star Angela Meade, and continues its partnership with the Washington Nationals with a free Opera in the Outfield performance of Don Giovanni.

A trio of international stars will sing the leading roles in a revival of Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, opening March 5. Juan Diego Florez will sing his first Met performances of Nemorino, the simple country boy who falls in love with the beautiful Adina, sung by Diana Damrau in her house role debut. Mariusz Kwiecien adds a new role to his Met repertory as Belcore, Adina's posturing fiance, and Alessandro Corbelli reprises his acclaimed interpretation of Dulcamara, the traveling quack whose phony love potion creates real romantic intrigue among the three characters. Donato Renzetti returns to the Met for the first time in more than 20 years to conduct this revival of John Copley's colorful 1991 production.

An abundance of Verdi and Wagner, in celebration of their 200th birthdays, will be featured in the Metropolitan Opera's 2012-13 season, which will showcase the world's greatest singers, conductors, and directors in seven new productions-two of them Met premieres-and 21 revivals, including three complete Ring cycles. The Metropolitan Opera (The Met) has just announced that Marco Armiliato will conduct Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia on February 15 and 18 matinee, replacing Maurizio Benini, who has withdrawn for personal reasons. Armiliato, who is currently conducting Verdi's Aida and Ernani, will now be conducting six out of seven Met performances this week. This is the highest number of performances for a conductor in a single week in Met history.
