Vienna State Opera Announces Additional LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR Cast Changes

Nach der krankheitsbedingten Absage der ersten beiden Vorstellungen von 'Lucia di Lammermoor' am 20. und 24. Juni 2012 wird Diana Damrau neben den letzten beiden am 27. und 30. Juni nun doch auch bereits die Vorstellung vom 24. Juni singen können. Hibla Gerzmava, die für Diana Damrau eingesprungen wäre und selbst erkrankt ist, wurde in der ersten von Brenda Rae ersetzt und musste nun auch die zweite Vorstellung absagen.

Brenda Rae springt am 20. Juni 2012 an der Wiener Staatsoper als Lucia di Lammermoor anstelle der erkrankten Hibla Gerzmava ein und gibt damit ihr Hausdebüt im Haus am Ring.

Hibla Gerzmava singt die Titelpartie in 'Lucia di Lammermoor' an der Wiener Staatsoper in den Vorstellungen am 20. und 24. Juni 2012 anstelle der erkrankten Diana Damrau. Die russische Sopranistin gibt damit ihr Hausdebüt im Haus am Ring. Diana Damrau wird aller Voraussicht nach die Lucia in den Vorstellungen am 27. und 30. Juni 2012 singen.

Washington National Opera (WNO) today announced its 2012-2013 season-Anna Bolena, Don Giovanni, Manon Lescaut, Norma, and Show Boat. WNO also expands its season to include a family production of Hansel and Gretel in the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater, extends its Celebrity Concert Series with performances by opera stars Nathan Gunn and Diana Damrau plus a recital by rising star Angela Meade, and continues its partnership with the Washington Nationals with a free Opera in the Outfield performance of Don Giovanni.

A trio of international stars will sing the leading roles in a revival of Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, opening March 5. Juan Diego Florez will sing his first Met performances of Nemorino, the simple country boy who falls in love with the beautiful Adina, sung by Diana Damrau in her house role debut. Mariusz Kwiecien adds a new role to his Met repertory as Belcore, Adina's posturing fiance, and Alessandro Corbelli reprises his acclaimed interpretation of Dulcamara, the traveling quack whose phony love potion creates real romantic intrigue among the three characters. Donato Renzetti returns to the Met for the first time in more than 20 years to conduct this revival of John Copley's colorful 1991 production.

Marco Armiliato Replaces Previous Conductor for IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA at The Met 2/15-18

The Metropolitan Opera (The Met) has just announced that Marco Armiliato will conduct Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia on February 15 and 18 matinee, replacing Maurizio Benini, who has withdrawn for personal reasons. Armiliato, who is currently conducting Verdi's Aida and Ernani, will now be conducting six out of seven Met performances this week. This is the highest number of performances for a conductor in a single week in Met history.
