Having staged Shakespeare's plays for over a decade, Artscape has selected to revive 2015 production of OTHELLO, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, only the second time in Maynardville's 60 year history that a production has been revived.
The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts announces a new partnership with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and DreamWorks Studios to present the highly successful annual program, The ASCAP Foundation Musical Theatre Workshop. Now in its 23rd year under the leadership of Artistic Director Stephen Schwartz, the workshop -- giving selected composers and lyricists the opportunity to present selections from original musical works in progress for professional critique -- will take place at The Wallis in Beverly Hills from Feb. 16-18, 2016, with submissions now being accepted. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2015.
It was announced today that the complete original cast from The Public Theater's acclaimed, sold-out production of the new American play Eclipsed by Danai Gurira will reprise their roles on Broadway this Spring, BroadwayWorld has confirmed. Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o will be once again joined by Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh. Eclipsed, directed by Liesl Tommy, will begin previews on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, with opening night set for March 6, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street).
