Due to critical and popular demand, Off-Broadway's eleven-time Obie Award-winning Soho Rep will extend the U.S. premiere of debbie tucker green's BORN BAD by two weeks, now through May 7th, 2011 at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street), it has been announced by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will produce the first in-the-round staging of Ruined, the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama by Arena Stage Project Resident Lynn Nottage and directed by Resident Playwright Charles Randolph-Wright (Director of Arena Stage's Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies). Ruined is the stirring tale of Mama Nadi, a mother figure loosely based on Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children, who provides refuge for women affected by civil war ravaging the Democratic Republic of Congo. The production features an expanded company with cast members playing live music and additional ensemble roles featuring University of Maryland students. Ruined runs April 22-June 5, 2011 in the Fichandler Stage.

Off-Broadway's eleven-time Obie Award-winning Soho Rep - which the New York Times calls the 'downtown powerhouse' - will kick off its 2010-2011 season with Gregory S. Moss' (author of PUNKPLAY) new play ORANGE, HAT & GRACE, directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson (BLASTED, THAT FACE) with previews beginning September 15 prior to an official press opening of September 23; followed by JOMAMA JONES: RADIATE, directed by Kym Moore, with Music Direction by Bobby Halvorson and previews beginning December 28 prior to an official press opening of January 4, 2011; and concluding with the U.S. premiere of Debbie Tucker Green's landmark play BORN BAD directed by Leah C. Gardiner, with previews beginning March 30, 2011 prior to an official press opening of April 7 - all at Soho Rep (46 Walker Street).

The Royal Court Theatre launches Theatre Local today (Tuesday February 2nd), presenting a season of work in a disused shop at the Elephant and Castle shopping centre over a six-month period.

Factory 449: a theatre collective debuts with its inaugural production of 4.48 PSYCHOSIS by Sarah Kane, author of Crave and Blasted. The production, a remount of Factory 449's award-winning workshop production staged as part of the 2009 Capital Fringe Festival, was recognized as "Best Drama" & "Best Overall Production" by the Festival and "Favorite Festival Play" by DC Theatre Scene. Directed by John Moletress and produced by Rick Hammerly, the cast features Factory 449 company members Sara Barker, Lisa Hodsoll and Brian Hemmingsen.
