WICKED Returns To Nashville 10/19-11/6

WICKED Returns to the Fox Theatre 9/14-10/9

After breaking box office records and selling out in record time in 2006 and 2008, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, will return to Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre from September 14-October 9, as a special to the Broadway Across America - Atlanta 2011-12 season.

Tennessee Women's Theater Project has returned to Nashville's Z. Alexander Looby Theater for the fifth year running - continuing through Sunday, May 22 - for its annual Women's Work festival of performing and visual arts created by women. The festival cuts a broad swath across styles and genres to offer eleven completely different programs: poetry and essays; one-woman shows; staged readings of new plays; film, dance, music and a display of visual art works in the theater lobby. Women's Work ends its 2011 reign with Lauren Schmitzer's Chlamydia is Not a Flower (and other love lessons I missed). Schmitzer, a Nashville writer and former music journalist for Billboard and MTV, holds a BA in English from Vanderbilt University and, as she proudly says, 'this is my first play,' which she has entrusted to director David Williams to bring to the stage on Sunday night.

2011-2012 Nutmeg Season to Feat. Mann, Fulton, GUYS & DOLLS and More

Writer Damon Runyon invented Broadway - and Broadway invented the American Musical! Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will open its 2011 Nutmeg Summer Series with the classic American musical, Guys and Dolls based on Runyon's comic tales of Broadway running June 2-12 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre (Lower Jorgensen).

Caroline Sheen Wins Helen Hayes Award for MARY POPPINS

Last night at the 27th annual Helen Hayes Awards celebrating excellence in Washington, D.C. theater, Caroline Sheen won Outstanding Lead Actress, Non-Resident Production for the title role in the 2010 Kennedy Center premiere of the MARY POPPINS North American Tour.

MARY POPPINS Visits Ohio Theatre, 4//21

CAPA, Broadway Across America, and producers Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh are pleased to announce full casting for the Columbus engagement of MARY POPPINS. Columbus' most eagerly anticipated stage production will begin performances at the Ohio Theatre on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, for a limited engagement of three weeks through Sunday, May 8, 2011. Opening night is Thursday, April 21, at 7:30pm.

UK Tour of OLIVER! in the Works?

According to Whatsonstage.com, Cameron Mackintosh's next big project might be a UK tour of his recent West End revival of OLIVER! The show closed at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in January. Casting notices indictate that the tour will visit Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton, Edinburgh, Norwich, Plymouth, Newcastle, Leeds, Dublin and Bristol. An official anouncement is expected to be made by next week.
