The LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2012 season, were presented last night, November 12, at the Los Angeles Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. At The Acting Company's 40th Anniversary Ruby Ball on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Capitale, James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director of the Signature Theatre and the Richard Rodgers Director of Juilliard's Drama Division, will accept the John Houseman Award recognizing his profound commitment to the development of American actors and an audience for the theater. Earl Weiner, Board Chairman of both The Acting Company and the Theater Development Fund (TDF) will receive the Warburg Humanitarian Award for his outstanding philanthropic endeavor and leadership. According to Barbara Fleischman, Gala Chair, Harriet Harris(Thoroughly Modern Millie, upcoming in Cinderella) and Dr. Kate Levin, Commissioner of New York City's Department of Cultural Affairs, will present the awards; Jim Dale will host, Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow, upcoming in Giant) will perform and tributes will be offered by Angela Lansbury, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Rainn Wilson, Dana Ivey, Hamish Linklater, Joe Dowling, Director of The Guthrie and Michael Kahn, Artistic Director of Washington's Shakespeare Theater. Four hundred guests complete an industry-filled audience of producers, directors, entertainers and other notables including The Honorable Thomas Kean, record producer Clive Davis,director/choreographer Susan Stroman, TV personality Pia Lindstrom, Juilliard President Joseph Polisi, composerMary Rodgers Guettel and The Broadway League's Charlotte St. Martin. 'Unplugged' - When technology begins to interrupt their lives Bryan (Andrew Rannells), David (Justin Bartha), Goldie (Georgia King) and Shania (Bebe Wood) reluctantly give up their various electronic devices for one day. Shania, however, takes it one step further by suggesting they give up all modern technology including heated toilet seats. Meanwhile, Rocky (NeNe Leakes) unleashes an online beast when she shows Jane (Ellen Barkin) how to use twitter. Hoping to gain more followers, Jane posts a private video from Bryan which was meant to surprise David On their future wedding day. Shocked at the invasion of privacy, Bryan is appalled until the cast of his show "Sing" tells him what they think of the tweet. THE NEW NORMAL airs on NBC on Tuesday, November 13 at 9:30pm!
The Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present the 42nd edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) from March 20-31, 2013. This year's festival will welcome two new programmers to the ND/NF team, FSLC's Director of Year-Round Programming, Robert Koehler, and MoMA Associate Curator Joshua Siegel, who have replaced FSLC Program Director Richard Peña and MoMA Senior Film Curator Lawrence Kardish. Peña will step down from his role as Program Director at the end of the year and Kardish retired in October. The New Directors/New Films selection committee members from both presenting organizations include: from the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Robert Koehler, Marian Masone, and Gavin Smith; and from The Museum of Modern Art, Jytte Jensen, Rajendra Roy and Joshua Siegel.

The Delaware Theatre Company presents The Outgoing Tide (www.OutgoingTidePlay.com) a new American play by Bruce Graham (nominee of two Drama Desk Awards and The Rosenthal Prize for Coyote on a Fence at Urban Stages, Something Intangible, Any Given Monday) and directed by Bud Martin (Any Given Monday, Respect).
