A new international trailer for Roman Polanskis' film adaptation of VENUS IN FUR, based upon the Tony Award-winning play by David Ives, has premiered. Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that its upcoming production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, starring Elizabeth Olsen as Juliet and Julian Cihi as Romeo, directed by Tea Alagi?, will now begin previews Saturday, September 28 at 3 pm, one day later than originally scheduled. The shift is due to a scenic element modification that will require additional technical rehearsal later this week. The official press opening remains Wednesday, October 16.
According to American Theatre magazine, the most performed play in the country the upcoming 2013-2014 season will be David Ives' Venus in Fur, with 22 productions across the country. Venus in Fur opened on Broadway in 2011, starring Hugh Dancy and Nina Arianda in a Tony Award-winning performance.

This fall Canadian Stage turns up the heat with an original Canadian production of David Ives' smart and sexy play Venus in Fur, starring Dora Award-winner Rick Miller (MacHomer, Just for Laughs, Lipsynch) as Thomas and Carly Street(The Good Wife, Broadway, The Stratford Festival) as Vanda. Directed by Jennifer Tarver (The Stratford Festival, Necessary Angel), the production is on stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E) from September 29 to October 27.

Gulfshore Playhouse is proud to announce the success of its First Annual New Works Festival. Kicking off Gulfshore Playhouse's 2013-2014 season, the New Works Festival brought together a team of professional actors and directors to work on the three plays chosen following an open submission process that yielded over 80 entries. Over four days of rehearsals, the playwrights were given the opportunity to edit their plays before the week culminated in a staged reading for each play. The Second Annual New Works Festival is now set to take place in August 2014.
