SPRING AWAKENING'S Morgan Karr To Sing At Joe's Pub 3/24

Morgan Karr's concert, entitled 'An Awfully Big Adventure,' will be presented March 24th at the legendary showcase venue for live music. Show time is 11:30pm. Special guests will be announced at a later date. Charity Wicks (Spring Awakening, In the Heights, Stephen Schwartz's S?ance on a Wet Afternoon) will music direct. Karr will take the audience on his 'awfully big adventure' with a throwback to his Nashville upbringing, featuring a mix of country, R&B, and Broadway tunes.

THE BOWERY BOYS To Feature Inauguration Discount

THE BOWERY BOYS, the world premiere new musical which runs through February 15 Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Drive; is featuring a promotion to honor both the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and President's Day in February. Since THE BOWERY BOYS celebrates the indomitable 'American Spirit,' anyone who arrives to the theater to pick up their tickets wearing red, white and blue from January 18 through February 15 will receive a certificate valid for two tickets to a Marriott production of their choice in 2009 (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Light in Piazza, Hairspray, or My Fair Lady). To obtain their certificate, customers wearing patriotic attire should visit the box office 30 minutes prior to the show.

Broadways Biggest Surprise Hit 'XANADU' Premieres in Chicago

XANADU in Chicago will star Elizabeth Stanley as 'Kira' (played in the film version by Olivia Newton-John), Max Von Essen as 'Sonny,' Sharon Wilkins and Joanna Glushak as the evil Muses 'Melpomene' and 'Calliope,' respectively, and Larry Marshal as 'Danny' (played in the film version by Gene Kelly). XANADU's cast also features Tallia Brinson, Amy Goldberger, Vince Rodriguez III, Jason Michael Snow, Kristofer Stock, JB Wing and Chicagoland-natives Julius Thomas III and Tiffany Topol.

Stanley and Von Essen to Star in Xanadu Tour

Casting is announced for the anticipated Chicago and Midwest premiere of the surprise hit Broadway musical XANADU at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place. Performances are scheduled to begin January 16, 2009 and individual tickets are now on sale.

'Noises Off' Presented at Cleveland Play House October 3rd-26th

Award-winning director David H. Bell orchestrates the mayhem and directs a nationally acclaimed cast which includes Play House alumni Donald Carrier ('Lincolnesque') as Frederick Fellowes and Cassandra Bissel ('Pride & Prejudice') as Poppy Norton-Taylor. 'Noises Off,' a co-production with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, begins previews on Friday, October 3, and runs through Sunday, October 26, 2008.

Jefferson Award Nominees Announced

Today, the Jefferson Awards announced the 150 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions which opened between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Beginning with this season, the Jeff Awards is acknowledging the work of Large and Midsize theatres in separate categories for productions and technical elements.
