Hartford Stage Receives $10,000 NEA Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has announced awards totaling more than $27.6 million in its first round of funding for fiscal year 2016, including an Art Works award of $10,000 to Hartford Stage to provide production support for the new musical Anastasia in May.

As part of its 2015-2016 Producing Season, HERE proudly presents Chang(e), a HERE Resident Artist production devised by Soomi Kim and director Suzi Takahashi. A limited engagement plays tonight, November 4 - 22 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street). This new work, developed through the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP), marks the culmination of a residency for Soomi Kim with HARP.

Hartford Stage's new adaptation of REAR WINDOW is an exercise in style as well as being a significant reworking of a famous story for our time. And it offers a celebrity sighting: Kevin Bacon in the role made famous by Jimmy Stewart in Hitchcock's thriller, based on the same source material. So the production's been sold out for weeks with only a few seats and standing room being released day by day. Good luck getting in!

To mark the occasion of Jefferson Mays' 6,000th death in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, the production held a funeral procession down West 48th Street, as cast members and fans, all dressed in mourning attire, followed Mr. Mays, lying in state inside a glass-sided horse-drawn hearse, to the Walter Kerr Theatre stage door. A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE & MURDER Coming to Playhouse Square Next Month

The Tony Award winner for Best Musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, will play Cleveland's Playhouse Square, November 3 - 15, 2015 in its First National Tour, launching September 2015. Tickets to Gentleman's Guide, part of the Key Bank Broadway Series at Playhouse Square, are currently on sale, and are available at the Playhouse Square ticket office (1519 Euclid Avenue in downtown Cleveland), by calling 216-241-6000, or online at www.playhousesquare.org.
