It's always a thrill to make your first visit to see a new theatre company. A lack of context creates a blank slate with limitless possibilities. That was my experience when I attend my first production by the Opera House Players at the lovely Broad Brook Opera House in Broad Brook, CT. Situated a bit off the beaten path, it is not the type of place you would simply stumble upon, but upon arrival I could immediately tell this place was certainly something special to the community. This feeling was further validated by the faithful theater-goers in attendance on opening night of The Opera House Players' current production of MAN OF LA MANCHA. The first thing I noticed was the excitement in the air from the audience. The packed house (which, by the way, is always a good sign, especially on opening night) was abuzz in anticipation of the show. The theater itself is set on the top floor of the former Broad Brook Woolen Company building which was built in 1892. With a long history of being a gathering place for the town, the theater obviously holds a special place in people's hearts.

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama presents the classic Broadway musical, Man of La Mancha, tonight, November 14 - 22, 2015. The show marks the first performance in the 'Care/Cure/Corruption' Series for the 2015-16 Drama season. The production also marks the department's return to the Irvine Barclay Theatre stage.

Man of La Mancha, Dale Wasserman, Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh's "musical within a play", will have a short run in London to mark the 50th anniversary of its first Broadway performance. Directed by Susan D. Atkinson, the cast features Keith Baker as Douglas with Kenneth Boys and Sandy York playing multiple supporting characters.

Broadway vet Martin Sheen will take the stage as 'Don Quixote' in a one-night-only benefit production of the musical MAN OF LA MANCHA on November 27, 2015.

Bristol Riverside Theatre opens its 2015-2016 season with the classic romantic comedy Bus Stop by Pulitzer Prize-winner William Inge, running tonight, September 29-October 18.

The Omaha Community Playhouse opens its 2015-2016 season with MAN OF LA MANCHA, the multiple-Tony Award winning musical based on the novel Don Quixote. Written by Dale Wasserman with music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion, the story tells of Miguel de Cervantes and his imprisonment during the Spanish Inquisition. Cervantes enlists his fellow prisoners into the telling of Don Quixote, knight errant, and his escapades as he fights for valor. I caught the preview last night and I have to warn you-it would be a mistake to miss this one.

The classic musical, telling the story of the author Cervantes and his creation, Don Quixote, opens Theater Works' 30th Anniversary Master Works Season on Friday, October 9 with Man of La Mancha. This pillar of musical theater is based on Dale Wasserman's remarkable, poignant and moving story of the "mad" knight Don Quixote and his "Impossible Dream" of honor, justice and love.

Ridgedale Players opens its 2015-2016 season with the classic drama ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST by Dale Wasserman, based on the novel by Ken Kesey. Performances run September 11th through September 27th. 

Man of La Mancha runs Sept. 18-Oct. 18, 2015 at the Omaha Community Playhouse.

Rehearsals are underway for the Alliance's upcoming production of the classic 1960s drama, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, by Dale Wasserman and based on the novel by Ken Kesey. The Alliance's production, directed by Susan V. Booth (Blues for an Alabama Sky, The Geller Girls, August: Osage County), will feature some of Atlanta's most talented and well-respected actors in one of the largest ensembles of the 2015/16 season.
