The Broadway composer Cy Coleman is completely underrated. His range of musicals stretch from traditional musical (Little Me) to 60's pop (Sweet Charity) to comic operetta (On The Twentieth Century). His greatest triumph is the hard jazz / film noire musical City of Angels. On Saturday night, the DC area professional premier opened at NextStop Theatre in Herndon, Virginia.

Just in time for the Tony Awards, Joseph Lorenzo Wise is back in the tap shoes on his new single, 'I MISS MY BROADWAY SHOW'  an original Broadway classic by writers Joseph Lorenzo Wise and Cody T. Gillette, which features tap dancing in the audio track.  "I hadn't tapped in years", Wise laments.  Wise was one of the original Four Porters in "ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY" where he tapped across the stage at the St. James Theater for over year and a half!

Maize & Blue on Broadway is a one-night-only benefit concert on May 16, 2016 at 7PM at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street) to celebrate the University of Michigan and its renowned Musical Theatre Department, as well as honor its longtime chair, Brent Wagner, who is retiring in May after 32 years of being the department's heart and soul.

Today in 2005, the second Broadway revival of Sweet Charity opened at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, where it ran for 279 performances. Sweet Charity is a musical with music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and book by Neil Simon. It was directed and choreographed for Broadway by Bob Fosse starring his wife and muse Gwen Verdon alongside John McMartin. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1966, where it was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, and also ran in the West End as well as having revivals and international productions. THe 2005 revival starred Christina Applegate in he title role.

After a two-month absence, (mostly)musicals returned to the E Spot Lounge on Monday, April 25, with IT'S ABOUT TIME, the company's 17th entry in their series of themed cabarets. Scroll down for photos from the concert!
