The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted last night to present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-director Francis Ford Coppola and Honorary Awards to historian and preservationist Kevin Brownlow, director Jean-Luc Godard and actor Eli Wallach.

Actor and talk show host, George Lopez will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the inaugural Museum of Tolerance International Film Festival Gala honoring acclaimed filmmaker Clint Eastwood on Sunday evening, November 14, it was announced today by Museum officials. Officials also announced the line-up of entertainment for the evening including special guest performances by this season's America's Got Talent grand prize winner Michael Grimm and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks.
De Niro to Receive Golden Globe's DeMille Award

The first Golden Globe winner of 2011 has been announced, and it's none other than film legend Robert De Niro, according to E!Online. The 67 year old actor won a Best Actor Golden Globe for Raging Bull and has been nominated seven times in the same category since then. But this time, De Niro will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for 'outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.'

Facing each other at dueling pianos, Pickard and Johnson play, cavort and sing. As one gets up to solo, the other assists with background accompaniment. Pickard is most definitely the comic and Johnson is straight-man. Behind is a screen with projections of the singing artists in question. The Film Society of Lincoln Center, which is building the new Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, scheduled to open spring of next year, announced during the New York Film Festival's Closing Night screening of Clint Eastwood's Hereafter, their completion of the private phase of a $41 million capital campaign. To date, the Film Society has raised $37 million during this private campaign, through the loyal support of Film Society trustees and members. The Film Society will now launch its public campaign to raise an additional $4 million.
