The Atheist's Primer reinstates the importance of philosophy in the debate about God's existence. The ‘new atheism' of Richard Dawkins and others has been driven by largely Darwinian objections to God's existence, limiting the debate to a principally scientific framework. This has obscured the philosophical tradition of atheism, in which the main landmarks in the history of atheism are to be found.
We all seek salvation, claims Carlos Blanco, because we all become prisoners of negativity. Humanity desires to be saved, to overcome the negativity that so often enslaves us. But where is the saviour to be found, and where is the source of salvation?

In Timeless Truth in the Hands of History, Gale Heide provides a detailed definition and deep analysis of systematic theology and the concepts that surround it. A passionate theologian, he shows us that the subject is much more complex and nuanced than it appears at first sight, and his work undertakes to scrutinise its numerous underlying notions and the mistakes that usually go with it. At the heart of this study is the remembrance that our perception of System is constantly evolving and thus change in systematic theology, and indeed the understanding of Church itself, have and will change over the centuries.
Houston Grand Opera is opening its 2012-2013 season with a lavish and fresh production of one of the world's favorite operas, LA BOHÈME by Giacomo Puccini. The familiar opera tells the story of four bohemian artists that live in the same garret (apartment) in 1830s Paris. The poet, Rodolfo, falls for Mimi, a seamstress suffering from Tuberculosis. His friend Marcello, a painter, has recently broken up with Musetta, but is still fascinated by her. In a series of short glimpses into their lives, the audience sees Rodolfo and Mimi fall into a deep, passionate love that is eventually troubled and torn asunder by Rodolfo's jealousies and concerns about her health.

Adrian Pabst underlines the fact that Pope Benedict XVI's role and influence in matters of global economic politics is full of potential as this economic and financial crisis appears to be a human creation. In his encyclical Caritas in Veritate, Benedict leads a deep economical, political and sociological reflection on the current situation to determine with exactitude the sources of the collapse and to consequently propose a radically new answer to the trouble times we are trying to pass through. Taking this encyclical as an axis of study, Pabst's book closely examines the question in all its possible aspects with scholarly acuity and explains the relevance, advantages and necessity of this proposition: a change from a destructive, purely profit-making global policy to a moral economy rooted in human nature and society on either state law or market relations.
Among the works of Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus and Albertus Magnus, Bonaventure's The Soul's Journey into God ranks as a masterpiece of thirteenth century Scholasticism. Based on the image of the six winged Seraph ? the angelic creature which had provided St. Francis with his critical mystical experience, which Bonaventure recognised as an allegory for the soul's journey towards a union with God ? the book describes in six chapters the stages man has to pass through in order to experience contemplation. The text gained prominence primarily due to the intellectual nature of the spiritual treatise, dealing with the relation between faith and reason.
