The current national tour of the Stephen Sondheim/Hugh Wheeler musical 'Sweeney Todd' blew into the Windy City for a two-week engagement at the Cadillac Palace Theatre this week, revealing that the show is so strong as originally written that almost any style of storytelling will reveal its truths. If this fact doesn't mark the show as a true performing arts masterwork, then I don't know how anything else could. This show, and this metaphor-laden production of it, are miraculous in their revealing of the human condition.

Under the mentorship of Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist William Finn, Barrington Stage Company is proud to announce the third exciting season of its acclaimed Musical Theater Lab. Developed by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd in conjunction with Finn in 2006, the Lab is designed to nurture and assist musical theater writers, composers, and lyricists as they create new works. Variety is reporting that 'Glory Days', a new musical about four high school friends who reunite a year after graduation, will most likely be moving to Broadway by the end of this season. It would be opening at the Circle In The Square Theater which most recently hosted the successful 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee'.

Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present a new Broadway production of Pal Joey, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart.
