The Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) presents the 4th annual Critics' Choice Television Awards, which are being broadcast live on The CW from the Beverly Hilton Hotel tonight, June 19, 2014 (8:00pm ET/8:00pm PT) and hosted by actor/comedian Cedric the Entertainer. Cedric is currently the star, co-creator and executive producer of the hit comedy series The Soul Man on TV Land as well as one of the stars of The Original Kings of Comedy. Legendary mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade has performed many of opera's greatest roles in her storied career that began in 1970. In June, she makes her Opera Philadelphia debut in an incredible new role written just for her, in the East Coast Premiere of A Coffin in Egypt by composer Ricky Ian Gordon and librettist/director Leonard Foglia.

Film director and screenwriter John Waters was the host for the evening. For the thirteenth year in a row, the evening was generously underwritten by Swarovski.

The poet died last night, May 27th in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from an 'unexpected ailment'. She died surrounded by her family. NJ Performing Arts Center & Johnny Mercer Foundation Present New Musical Created by Students

100 students from four local New Jersey Schools - Maple Avenue School (Newark), LINK Community School (Newark), Marion P. Thomas Charter School (Newark), and Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts (East Orange) - came together for the first time to perform four sections of their unique collaborative musical theater piece Big Deal on May 21. The new one act is the culmination of an innovative musical theater partnership between NJPAC and Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF). The students wrote and rehearsed the musical over nine months in four separate parts and put the pieces together for the first time in front of their family and friends
