Berkeley Playhouse at the Julia Morgan Theater proudly announces their eighth season. The ambitious season will see an increase of productions from four to six, their first "R-rated" show, a world premiere commission, the first non-musical in the company's history, and a Bay Area premiere.

The award-winning Astoria Performing Arts Center has announced their Midwinter Reading Series, consisting of a play and a musical, that will be presented at the Queens Council on the Arts, supported by grants from the Dramatist Guild Fund and the Department of Cultural Affairs.

The Billie Holiday Theatre continues its 42nd Season Generations United with the World Premiere of Maid's Door by Writers Guild Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Cheryl L. Davis; the show will be directed by the Theatre's Artistic Director Jackie Alexander. Opening Night will be Thursday, March 6; and the show will run through Sunday, March 30. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8pm with matinees on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 4pm. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 37th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards. Many of the major categories were announced this morning on 'CBS News' 'The Early Show,' by Bree Williamson (Jessica Brennan on 'One Life to Live,' ABC) and Travis Stork ('The Doctors,' Syndicated) including the naming of the Lifetime Achievement honoree, Agnes Nixon, the grand dame of Daytime serial drama.

The Milk Can Theatre Company has announced its spring 2009 season: Galileo, written by Bertolt Brecht and directed by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, and The Science Plays, six short plays inspired by the history of science. Galileo and The Science Plays will run in repertory April 30 through May 17. All performances will take place at Urban Stages, 259 West 30th Street.
