The 2015 college football season is unofficially underway as conferences across the country assemble for their annual media days.

Last night I had the privilege to go to the 3rd annual FADE TO BLACK playwright's festival. Houston has its share of fringe events, but there wasn't a playwright's festival celebrating the works of black playwrights until Denise O'Neal conceived the FADE TO BLACK festival. In their 3rd year of operation, the FADE TO BLACK festival is on the rise and serves as a platform for the creative voices of black theatre artists of the future. Not only do the playwrights get the chance to show their work, actors and directors have an opportunity to flex their creative muscles. An esteemed panel of judges read a lot of plays and narrowed it down to 10 titles that were rehearsed and presented last night.

FOX Sports 1, America's new sports network, officially launches at 6:00 AM ET on Saturday, Aug. 17, marking a new era in sports television.

FOX Sports today unveiled a star-studded lineup headlining FOX FOOTBALL DAILY, the new, year-round weekday football show and FOX NFL KICKOFF, a one-hour Sunday morning pregame program, both carried by FOX Sports 1, America's new sports network launching this Saturday. The announcement was made by FOX Sports Executive Producer John Entz and Bill Richards, the executive producer of both shows.

In an effort to achieve this mission, the organization is launching its inaugural Horton Foote Writer's Retreat, a program that gives writers the rare opportunity to reside and write undisturbed in Horton Foote's preserved Wharton, Texas home.
