BWW Reviews: Moonshadow in Melbourne - Haunting

It is so hard to know what to make of last nights world premiere of Yusef/Cat Stevens musical Moonshadow. I would like to talk to you about the story but unfortunately there is no delineated plot to speak of. I would like to tell you what it's about, but at interval I was unsure, by it's conclusion I had no idea. The script is so banal, devoid of purpose and meaning that a concert version would have been far more enjoyable. However, this was not the case and so we delve a little further.

Lehman Center Presents Gloria Gaynor, Colonel Abrams & The Hit Men, 4/21

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts continues its 31st season with a night of dance hits on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 8pm. One of dance music's biggest stars for over three decades, GRAMMY Award winner GLORIA GAYNOR will perform with a full band. Her 1979 #1 hit, the greatest disco anthem of all time, "I Will Survive," is her signature song of inspiration that has touched the hearts of people all over the world. The song was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame at this year's ceremony in February. Urban and dance music phenomenon COLONEL ABRAMS will perform his biggest hits, including "Trapped," "I'm Not Gonna Let You" and "How Soon We Forget." Also performing will be THE HIT MEN, a group of six guys who made, played, sang and recorded the hits of the '60s, '70s and '80s. This group features original recording and performing members of such iconic bands as Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and Tommy James and The Shondells and the original recording artists of such historic megahits as "Oh What a Night (Dec. '63)," "Sherry," "Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown" and 'Who Loves You."

Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain Announces 2012 Tour

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain today announces new dates as part of its world tour, including some of the world's major venues. In a tour that takes in Australia, Europe, the UK and the USA, the Orchestra perform at the Sydney Opera House, Australia on 6 March, the Royal Albert Hall, London on 21 September and Carnegie Hall, New York on 17 October with a total of 70 concerts worldwide.

MOONSHADOW to Premiere at the Princess Theatre in May

It was announced today that Moonshadow, a new musical written by Yusuf, featuring the music and lyrics of Cat Stevens/Yusuf, will make its World Premiere at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, in May 2012. This $5 million production will have an Australian cast and creative team other than the director, Anders Albien from Sweden.

Seger, Costello et al. Nominated for Induction into Songwriters Hall Of Fame 2012

Jimmy Webb, Chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced the slate of 2012 nominees for induction. The organization, which is dedicated to recognizing the work and lives of those composers and lyricists who create popular music around the world, holds annual elections to determine those who will make up the roster of inductees for the following year.
