'A Cow Needs a Tail For More Than One Summer: Life Lessons From Mom' by Lolita Cummings Carson chosen as Medalist Winner in the General Nonfiction category of the 2015 New Apple Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing.
Book Synopsis
'A Cow Needs A Tail For More Than One Summer' is a fantastically funny collection of stories from the author's childhood, each revolving around a saying used by Cummings Carson's mother (as a rebuke, usually). This book started out as a gift from Cummings Carson to her mother, but quickly turned into an honest and hilarious look at the parent-child relationship. Cummings Carson gives us a look into family life: a mother's wisdom, a child's rebellious spirit, and the full-circle effect that comes with growing into parenthood yourself.
About the Author

When not writing, teaching or leading, Cummings Carson can be found biking or working out with her husband, Lamar Carson. Together, they are the parents of four grown children: Briana Hendrix, Jerry Hendrix II, Domonique Carson, and Daniel Carson.

Set in 1931 Berlin, Cabaret primarily takes place amid the nightlife of the seedy Kit Kat Klub. Life there revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer, Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw. Overseeing the action is the mysterious Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub, which serves as a metaphor for ominous political developments in Germany as the Nazis rise to power. Director Alan Demovsky encourages the audience to ask questions: "Why have so many versions of this story been told for almost 100 years? Is it truly a cautionary tale? Can this happen again? Is it perpetually happening?"
