The Breakthrough Prize will honor top achievements in the fields of physics, life sciences and mathematics, with a star-studded ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. The ceremony, to be broadcast live at 10pm ET/7pm PT on NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, will be hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, host of the network's series The Story of Us with Morgan Freeman.

British TV Host, Pianist & Bandleader Jools Holland Headed to The Blue Note

World-class rhythm and blues/ boogie-woogie pianist Jools Holland has become a British institution over the last 25 plus years, having achieved worldwide acclaim as host of the immensely popular Later....With Jools Holland on BBC Two Television since its debut in 1992. Holland will now perform live in New York City, his first U.S. performance in more than 15 years, at the legendary Blue Note.

Bernard Labadie Makes First NYC Appearance With Orchestra Of St. Luke's

The second of Orchestra of St. Luke's Carnegie Hall series concerts this season takes place on Thursday, December 7 at 8PM in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Leading the Ensemble in a program of works by Kraus, Mozart, and Beethoven is Bernard Labadie making his Orchestra of St. Luke's New York City debut as the Principal Conductor Designate. Bernard Labadie's appointment as Principal Conductor of OSL was announced in May 2017 and he will officially assume the post at the start of the ensemble's 2018/2019 season.

Latin Grammy Winners ILe & Gaby Moreno Join Forces At VPAC

iLe (Ileana Cabra Joglar) is a Puerto Rican singer, composer and vocalist who spent a decade touring Latin America with her brothers in the popular band Calle 13. Now, as successful solo artist she comes to Los Angeles performing music from her recent album that combines alt-rock with traditional boleros. Gaby Moreno, who sings the theme song for the series opening intro of Disney's first Latina princess Elena of Avalor, moved to the US from Guatemala after high school and now calls Los Angeles her home. Her guitar and bluesy vocals move easily between pop, soul, and classic Latin sounds. Both boast a Latin Grammy win and will serve up their unique blend of cultures onstage as part of the Music Knows No Borders series at VPAC (The Soraya) on Saturday, November 18 at 8pm.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Exhibit Heading to Ford Presidential Museum

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and Foundation will be bringing a glimpse of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to the Ford Presidential Museum this November with an exhibit that explores how rock music can change attitudes about patriotism, peace, equality and freedom.

Dance/NYC Announces 25 Inaugural Dance Advancement Fund Grantees

Dance/NYC has announced the 25 inaugural recipients of the Dance Advancement Fund. The purpose of the Fund, made possible by the generous support of the Ford Foundation, is to address the inequitable distribution of resources in the dance field by supporting dance makers and companies with budgets of less than $1 million.
