The 2008 New York Comedy Festival(NYCF) and The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) unite to present the second annual Stand Up For Heroes: A Benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation at Town Hall in New York City at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5. Regis Philbin will host Stand Up For Heroes, which will feature star performances by Ricky Gervais, John Pinette, Bruce Springsteen,and Patti Scialfa. Both Whoopi Goldberg and James Niven of Sotheby's will make a special appearance as the guest auctioneers. In honor of the United States' injured service members, the evening promises unforgettable performances, laughter, and sincere gratitude, with proceeds going to the BWF.
Bundy, Brown, Hart and Holmes to Sing with New York Pops 11/7

The New York Pops led by Vincent Falcone and Eric Stern, celebrates its hometown on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 8 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in a program entitled 'A Love Letter to New York' featuring classic songs about New York City and the world premieres of original songs about the city by composer Kenneth Laub. Clint Holmes headlines the concert with special guests Ashley Brown, Laura Bell Bundy and Linda Hart. The program also includes songs by Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter. Ms. Bundy, Ms. Hart, and Mr. Holmes will make their Carnegie Hall debuts.
Marvel Says Spider-Man 'May Hit Broadway' in 2009

Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel told an audience at the Thomas Weisel Consumer Conference in New York that the Spider-Man musical might at last hit Broadway next year. The show has been in the works for three and a half years, with casting calls this summer heating things up.

Transport Group, the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and a 2007 Obie Award, has announced its 2008-09 season: Bury the Dead, written by Irwin Shaw and directed by Joe Calarco, and Being Audrey, music and lyrics by Ellen Weiss, book by James Hindman, additional book and lyrics by Cheryl Stern, developed with Jack Cummings III and Adam R. Perlman, and directed by Jack Cummings III.

Film site IESB.net reports that Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as 'Mary Jane' in the upcoming SPIDERMAN musical, it aslo reports that rehearsals will begin in June 2009. The website also reveals that her 'Across The Universe co-star Jim Sturgess, long rumored to play Peter Parker/Spiderman is still a possibility, but has to be 'convinced'.

The idea of families in Darfur being torn apart, wives from husbands, children from mothers, deeply moved Hollywood film producer Doug Claybourne ('Nights in Rodanthe,' 'North Country,' 'Fast and the Furious,' 'The Mask of Zorro') and playwright L.D. Napier. Knowing that women and children were being raped and brutally killed as they go for firewood each night, stopped them cold. They were forced to ask themselves a hard question - 'What can we do - just one individual?' The answer led Claybourne to put his 28 year producing career on hold and Napier to write a play.
