LADY DAY's Audra McDonald Wins Historic Tony for Best Lead Actress in a Play

Audra McDonald has just received her 6th Tony Award for Best Performance by and Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for her role as Billie Holiday in LADY DAY AT EMERSON'S BAR AND GRILL. This year's Tony nomination marked McDonald's 8th. She now holds the record for most Tonys won by an actor, surpassing Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury with 5 Tony Awards each.

Trustus Theatre Managing Director Larry Hembree hosts Larry's Bring Your Own Dinner Dinner Theatre, Wednesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. at Trustus, 520 Lady Street in the Congaree Vista. Act I will feature the hilarious talents of some "lovely ladies" that were "kicked off the Lawrence Welk Show", with special Guest Patti O'Furniture. Act II will fill the air with wonderful music as the Dick Goodwin Trio takes the stage with some of Trustus' most popular vocalists. Trustus celebrates its 30th Anniversary season beginning in September and all proceeds to offset operating costs at theatre. There are also other opportunities to donate to the theatre whether you attend the event or not.

Due to scheduling conflicts with its original cast, Beautiful Soup will postpone the return engagement of Steven Carl McCasland's Little Wars. Replacing it in repertory with the previously announced Shades of Blue: The Decline and Fall of Lady Day, What Was Lost is a new play by McCasland chronicling Laurette Taylor's rehearsal process for the original production of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie.
