Shen Wei Dance Art's Season to Include World Premiere of Solo for Shen Wei and Revival of MAP, 4/29-5/4

When Shen Wei decided to present a season at the Judson Memorial Church, April 29-May 4, he faced a problem. This famed lover of the grand scale would not be able to hang his set for "Map" performances, well, not if he wanted his audience seated on all four sides. However, Shen Wei Dance Arts' season, which also features the world premiere of a solo for the choreographer, shows that when there's a will, Shen Wei finds a way.

American Theater Company concludes the 2013-2014 Season with Hair, music & lyrics by James Rado & Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. Three Cat Productions presents the world premiere production of the musical revue Hang Your Hat at Mister Kelly's at the Chicago Park District's Berger Park Coach House Theater at 6205 N. Sheridan Road (Edgewater by Granville el stop on Red Line). Hang Your Hat at Mister Kelly's explores the famed Chicago Rush Street supper club through the eyes of Winston a former Mister Kelly's employee. Transporting back to the 1950s, 60s and 70s, Winston recalls the legendary performers of Barbra, Ella, Jackie, Barry and many more.

As part of the Kennedy Center's World Stages, International Theater Festival, the National Theatre of Iceland, presented this tragic tale of the love and loss in a riveting 90-minute performance in the Terrace Theater. Written by Icelandic playwright Mikael Torfason, the play starts as the audience arrives: two characters frozen in a moment of vulnerability, the man, half naked and clutching a phone with a look of despair, and the woman, standing in the kitchen dressed for a night on the town.

Art of Time Ensemble's unprecedented and engaging production I Send You This Cadmium Red returns to the stage this spring. The critically acclaimed show is an exploration of the senses, merging music, theatre and striking visual projections to kaleidoscopic effect. Originally presented in 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, the remount features additional, never-before-heard music by composer Gavin Bryars (The Sinking of the Titanic), direction by Daniel Brooks (House, Possible Worlds) and musical direction by Andrew Burashko. Julian Richings (Helmlock Grove, Orphan Black) and John Fitzgerald Jay (True Crimes, Half Life) reprise their original roles, performing alongside ensemble musicians playing Bryars' music and visual projections created by Bruce Alcock.
