Tonight, June 5th at 7pm Marissa Miller (Wicked) will make her solo cabaret debut at the Laurie Beechman Theatre with her new show 'Castles in the Air.' Tedd Firth serves as musical director and pianist alongside Dave Berger on drums, Steve Doyle on bass, and Sean Harkness on guitar. Direction is by Benjamin Simpson (Mother Jones).

freeFall Theatre's upcoming production of THE BURNT PART BOYS takes you out of St. Pete, Florida and deep into West Virginia's coal mines, following the very human experience of fourteen-year-old Pete, his brother Jake and their friends. As these daring young people journey into the coal mine known as "the burnt part", the same mine that took their fathers' lives, audiences are challenged to experience and perceive the streaks of light and the depths of the darkness that lie in each of us.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre's (MMT) new 2014-15 season will feature the area premieres of Eating Raoul, Calvin Berger and Happy Days-A New Musical at Hennepin Theatre Trust's New Century Theatre. Eating Raoul, based on the 1982 cult classic, black comedy film about a twisted take on the American dream, runs October 3-26, 2014. Calvin Berger, inspired by the classic French play Cyrano de Bergerac, runs January 23-February 15, 2015. TV's favorite family, the Cunninghams join The Fonz to save their favorite malt shop from demolition in Happy Days-A New Musical, running April 24-May 17, 2015. Utah Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Emeritus Douglas N. Cook Passes Away

It is with deep sadness that the Utah Shakespeare Festival shares the news that producing artistic director emeritus Douglas N. Cook passed away on May 31 in San Diego, California due to an aggressive stomach cancer. He was a driving force for excellence at the Festival, dedicating over 37 years nurturing and caring for the individual artists and technicians as well as the Festival as a whole.

On the heels of Memorial Day, Broadway Across America - Houston is presenting the First US National Tour of the acclaimed play WAR HORSE. The visually spectacular production first premiered on London's Off-West End in the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre. It transferred to the West End's New London Theatre, where it is still running. It enjoyed Broadway success at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at New York City's Lincoln Center. It has since been produced in Canada, Australia, and Germany. After seeing this tour, it is no surprise that everywhere the play goes, it leaves tear-soaked audiences speechless and amazed.

Firehouse Theatre has announced the cast and creative team behind the Season 21 opening production, HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical with lyrics by James Rado & Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. Directed by Firehouse Theatre Artistic Director Jase Smith (The Wild Party, POP!, The Rocky Horror Show) with music direction by Leilani Giles (POP!, The Rocky Horror Show) and choreography by Starrene Foster (Levitate, The Wild Party, POP!), HAIR will play 14 performances, June 26 - July 19, 2014. Opening Night is Friday, June 27th.
Will Swenson to Take LES MISERABLES Hiatus Beginning 7/22 for Alliance's BULL DURHAM

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, John Behlmann, Melissa Errico and Will Swenson will star in BULL DURHAM, the new musical based on the beloved 1988 film, which Sports Illustrated proclaimed the '#1 Greatest Sports Movie of All-time.' BULL DURHAM will premiere at the Alliance Theatre on September 3, and will run until October 5. Swenson, who will play '"Crash" Davis', will appear in the new musical while on hiatus from the Broadway revival of Les Miserables, where he currently stars as Javert. Swenson will be gone July 22- October 5. A replacement has not yet been announced.

The outrageous comedy features an all star cast, including Daniele Gaither (Mad TV, Groundlings), Teresa Ganzel (Wall-E, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson), Carolyn Hennesy (True Blood, General Hospital), Paul Iacono (G.B.F., The Hard Times of RJ Berger) and Vicki Lewis (NewsRadio, Chicago on Broadway). The Playwrights' Center today announced its 2014-15 roster of playwriting fellows and new Core Writers, who together will receive more than $200,000 in awards and additional development funds. The Playwrights' Center is an internationally renowned play development center and artist service organization dedicated to supporting the development of playwrights and new plays. Core Writers and fellows are selected by independent panels composed of nationally recognized theater artists and leaders.

On Sunday, May 18th, 15 high school students from the Quest To Learn school in New York City gathered at the Producers Club in the Theatre District, where they met members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals: Jason Hellerstein, a junior majoring in Literature and President of the company for the upcoming year; Josh Friedman, a sophomore majoring in Psychology and the Producer of HPT167; Ally Covello, a sophomore majoring in neurobiology and member of the Hasty Pudding band (saxophone, clarinet, and flute); and Paris Ellsworth, a junior majoring in Psychology and cast member, who played Albanian psychic Macy Deadpeople in the Pudding's latest production, Victorian Secrets. They were soon joined by David Binder, the Producer of Hedwig and The Angry Inch on Broadway;associate producer Mark Berger, make-up artist and wig master Mike Potter, Barbara Crompton, Hedwig's company manager, and Sarah Marcus from Serino Coyne, the advertising agency for Hedwig.
