Neil Patrick Harris to be Honored at Drama League's 30th Annual MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF BROADWAY, Feb. 3, 2014

The Drama League announced today that they will honor Golden Globe Nominee and Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris at the 30th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway, to be held on Monday evening, February 3, 2014 at the famed Pierre Hotel (2 East 61st Street). The black-tie gala, which features dozens of stars from Hollywood and Broadway in a one-night-only evening of musical selections drawn from Mr. Harris' career in theater, film and television, supports The Drama League's educational initiatives for promising young artists. EAGER TO LOSE Opens Tonight at Ars Nova

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) proudly presents the world premiere of the burlesque farce Eager to Lose in a limited Off-Broadway engagement, Wednesday, October 9 through Saturday, November 2 at Ars Nova (511 West 54th Street). Official Opening Night takes place Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM.

Previews begin Thursday 10/24 for Ensemble Studio Theatre's World Premiere 'Year of the Rooster' by Eric Dufault and directed by John Giampietro

Previews begin Thursday, October 24, for Year of the Rooster by Youngblood playwright Eric Dufault, directed by John Giampietro, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street. Year of the Rooster is a comic, mythic elevation of the gritty subculture of American cockfighting by a 25-year-old playwright. It opens the Ensemble Studio Theatre's 46th season Monday, October 28, at 7:00pm .

Chicago Children's Theatre Presents Mr. Chickee's Funny Money, R&B Family Musical by Motown's Lamont Dozier, 1/18-3/2/14

Chicago Children's Theatre is tuning up to present the world premiere of Mr. Chickee's Funny Money, an all-new, rhythm and blues family musical based on the book by Christopher Paul Curtis, featuring music and lyrics by Motown legend Lamont Dozier and his son, co-music writer/lyricist Paris Dozier, book by David Ingber, directed by Derrick Sanders, musical supervision by Brian Usifer.

St. Ann's Warehouse Extends Donmar's All-Female JULIUS CAESAR Through 11/9

Due to overwhelming demand, and amidst extraordinary critical acclaim, St. Ann's Warehouse and the Donmar Warehouse have extended the American Premiere of the Donmar's all-female Julius Caesar, directed by Phyllida Lloyd. New York audiences will now have seven additional opportunities to see the production Ben Brantley of The New York Times calls "gripping and illuminating," adding, "This Julius Caesar generates a higher testosterone level than any I have seen."

Nathaniel Stampley and Alicia Hall Moran to Star in PORGY AND BESS National Tour, Kicking Off at the Ahmanson, 4/23

Casting has been announced for the national tour of 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess,' winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, which will open at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre on April 23 and play through June 1, 2014. (Preview on April 22.) The tour, accompanied by a 23-piece orchestra, is set to launch at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre this November.

Ethan Coen's One-Act Plays to Make UK Debut?

Ethan Coen, whose recent play Women or Nothing is currently playing at the Atlantic Theatre Company, just revealed that his plays might be heading to the UK in the near future. Coen told the BBC: 'There's nothing definite, but hopefully the first bunch of one-act plays I did with Neil Pepe [artistic director] at the Atlantic Theater Company might be coming here.'

Huntington/Coolidge Collaboration Continues with NETWORK and THE POWER OF DUFF Today

Stage & Screen, a collaboration between Coolidge Corner Theatre and Huntington Theatre Company that explores the depictions of shared themes in Huntington productions and acclaimed films begins its second season of collaboration tonight, October 14 at 7pm with Sidney Lumet's Academy Award-winning film Network. The screening will be followed by a conversation with playwright, screenwriter, and film director Stephen Belber and others from the Huntington's production of The Power of Duff.

The Vagrancy Presents Lucy Thurber's BOTTOM OF THE WORLD, Now thru 11/3

The Vagrancy is honored to bring you the West Coast Premiere of BOTTOM OF THE WORLD by Lucy Thurber. This poignant, quirky, emotional drama unfolds around a young woman dealing with her sister's sudden death. This life-affirming piece, helmed by Director Sabina Ptasznik, flashes back to 1910 Appalachia accompanied by live bluegrass band, Blue Bird Bandits. BOTTOM OF THE WORLD elicits a heartfelt look at the various characters' struggle through loss and longing, while striving for human connection. Ptasznik says, 'This is the kind of show that asks you to abandon your perception of what love is. It is my hope that someone who sees the show is inspired to question what people in their lives mean in simple, yet unconventional, ways. This show is a return to simplicity in complicated, heavy times.'After the play patrons are welcome to a VAGRANT HOOTENANNY hosted by Blue Bird Bandits. Fun, dancing and moonshine guaranteed. Playwright Lucy Thurber's THE HILL TOWN PLAYS, a 5-play cycle, currently plays in 4 venues all across New York City. BOTTOM OF THE WORLD opens at The Lounge Theatres and runs tonight, October 12th - November 3rd.

The Civilians Announces Participants of 2013-14 R&D Group

The Civilians, the award-winning New York-based theatre company, announces the members of its 2013-14 R & D Group. The group's emerging and established artists were selected from over one hundred applicants. The R & D Group is comprised of artists from multiple theatrical disciplines. Each artist or creative team will develop an original work over the season. The artists and projects were selected to represent a range of different strategies for making new work from creative inquiry and research. This diversity of approach helps feed a culture of innovation in the group, making the R & D Group an effective lab of experimentation for the field of investigative theater.

Atlantic Theater's WOMEN OR NOTHING Closes Today Off-Broadway

Atlantic Theater Company presents the World Premiere of WOMEN OR NOTHING, written by Ethan Coen and directed by David Cromer. Performances began Wednesday, August 28, 2013, and the show will end its run today, October 6, 2013.
