Raw/Cooked Series Continues at the Brooklyn Museum

An exhibition featuring three related painting and sculpture installations created by Brooklyn artist Caitlin Cherry for the Brooklyn Museum is the latest in the continuing Raw/Cooked series of work by under-the-radar Brooklyn artists, presented with support from Bloomberg. The exhibition, Hero Safe, will be on view June 7 through September 1, 2013.

Victoria Sancho Lobis Named Prince Trust Associate Curator at Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago has announced the appointment of Victoria Sancho Lobis as the new Prince Trust Associate Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings, effective September 15, 2013. Lobis, a multilingual scholar, brings to the museum expertise in both Netherlandish Baroque and Latin American colonial art, adding new dimensions to an already strong department.

Found Objects Theatre to Present MASCOT at Den Theatre, 5/3-26

Found Objects Theatre Group announces its production of Mascot this spring at Chicago's Den Theatre at 1333 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago. Mascot is written by Chris Bower, directed by Kevlyn Hayesand performed by Matt Test.

Met Museum and Cloisters Celebrate Spring Break with Holiday Monday Today

New Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs Named at Cornish College of the Arts

President Nancy J. Uscher announced today the appointment of Moira Scott Payne as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Cornish College of the Arts. Ms. Payne is currently Programme Director of Art and Media, at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee, in Dundee, Scotland. She will assume her new position at Cornish on October 1, 2013.

Photo Flash: INVETERATE COMPOSITION FOR CLARE Sculpture Installed at Nashville's Frist Center

Today the Frist Center for the Visual Arts installed its newest outdoor sculpture, Inveterate Composition for Clare by Brooklyn-based artist Rachel Owens. The multimedia sculpture-composed of Humvee shells, lights and an internal sound system that emits whale sounds-is stationed at the Center's Demonbreun Street entrance; it will remain on view through August 1, 2014. Arizona Fine Art Expo Highlights Works of Four Exhibiting Artists, Now thru 3/24

The Arizona Fine Art Expo highlights the works of four exhibiting artists and the stories behind their latest works, now through March 24, 2013. Charles Huckeba's 'Goober Series' utilizes dried chips of paint applied in various layers creating an overlay that initiates a need for the viewer to look below the surface. Philip Feaster chisels memories of his childhood into slate. Beth Hyatt Rapp brings the Samburu Tribe of Kenya to her canvas and Jess Davila puts the finishing touches to The Davis C. Utz Award.

Chicago's Driehaus Museum Kicks Off 2013 Samuel M. Nickerson Lecture Series Today

The Richard H. Driehaus Museum announces its fourth season of the Samuel M. Nickerson Lecture Series, an annual program which seeks to foster appreciation for historic architecture and design. The lectures feature five notable speakers who explore themes in late 19th and early 20th century decorative arts and architecture.

Khmer Arts Ensemble of Cambodia Presents A BEND IN THE RIVER at the Joyce, 4/9-14

The Joyce Theater will welcome Khmer Arts Ensemble, under the artistic leadership of the acclaimed choreographer and dancer Sophiline Cheam Shapiro, back onto its stage for one week this spring - from April 9-14 - presenting the New York premiere of A Bend in the River, a contemporary fable. Featured Art Exhibition: 'The Artist and the Poet' at Art Institute of Chicago

Planned to coincide with the Art Institute's major exhibition Picasso and Chicago, this presentation from the Department of Prints and Drawings is inspired by the modern master's love of poetry-Picasso was close friends with poets, including Max Jacob, Guillaume Apollinaire, Andre Breton, and Paul Eluard, and collaborated with them from his earliest days in Paris. Taking Picasso's passion as a jumping-off point, this collection of works on paper surveys the myriad ways visual artists have been inspired by or collaborated with poets in the 20th century.

Students Explore Chicago's Unofficial Museum of Light

Last Week, a group of 20 design students from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) visited the Lightology Showroom for a Lighting Education Tour. Lighting Designer Diane Fairchild and Architect Richard Kasemsarn brought their "Design with Light" class to Lightology for an immersive educational experience.

Peter Blum Opens Rosy Keyser Exhibition Today
