If you're looking for thoughtful entertainment that's suitable for children and adults then you should definitely check out the COCA Theatre Company's current production of THE LITTLE PRINCE based on the classic book by Antoine de Saint Exupery (music by Rick Cummins with book and lyrics by John Scoullar). Even if you've never read the story, you'll still be captivated by the whimsical, yet decidedly philosophical, journey of a little boy who travels the stars seeking answers while delivering certain truths. An excellent cast combines professional and non-professional actors who carry this material well. Best of all, there are stunning visual elements and musical numbers that act to enhance the overall experience.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, will present, 'The Little Prince'. Based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and adapted by Rick Cummins and John Scoullar, 'The Little Prince', is an imaginative story of an unlikely friendship between an aviator who lands in the Sahara Desert and a tiny prince who has fallen from the sky. The Prince tells tales of life and lessons learned among the stars. A show entertaining for the whole family, it will run at MET this February for ten performances over five weeks. 'It's a true ensemble piece that is full of enchantment and heart,' said Fun Company Artistic Director Julie Herber. 'This is going to be a special treat for families to share together and it's our hope that it will spark many thoughtful discussions.'
It seems only fitting that in its efforts to introduce a musical form as grown-up as the opera to younger audiences, that the Kennedy Center has picked for this holiday season the children's classic THE LITTLE PRINCE, a story all about grown-ups trying to understand children trying to understand grown-ups. As the author's original dedication reads, 'All grown-ups were children first,' and in this family friendly production, the Kennedy Center has put forward something for the grown-up and the child in all of us.
