On Friday, August 9, 2013 The Broadway Dreams Foundation presented the first annual Women in the Performing Arts Symposium, a celebration of the vibrant, creative women who share their passion through artistic expression. Sponsored by Bernstein Global Wealth Management, this first symposium focused on women who make a difference through their efforts to create, sustain, and grow performing arts education and featuring an expert panel of women taking a closer look at the current financial state of the educational and professional arts environment. Moderated by acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck, the panel included Anne Bucciarelli (Bernstein Global Wealth Management), Victoria Bussert (Baldwin-Wallace University), Mariann Cook (Rider University), Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State), Barbara Mackenzie-Wood (Carnegie Mellon), Catherine McNeela (Elon University) and Amy Rogers(Pace).
The Broadway Dreams recently made their west coast debut last week at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The week-long Summer Performing Arts Intensive culminated in a performance of CIRCLE OF DREAMS, a unique Broadway concert event featuring performances by Broadway favorites including Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Craig D'Amico (Annie Get Your Gun), Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime), Andrew Palermo (Wicked), Nicole Parker (MadTV,Wicked), Ryann Redmond (Bring It On: The Musical) and more alongside a talented roster of Los Angeles area BDF students. The Broadway Dreams Foundation will give aspiring performers across the country their big break with "Circle of Dreams," the 2013 Summer Performing Arts Intensive Tour. The national non-profit training program will present an incredible roster of Broadway directors, performers and industry insiders who will offer musical theatre training, mentoring and career opportunities through unique, week-long performing arts intensive workshops for students of all ages.
The Broadway Dreams Foundation will kick off its 2013 Summer Performing Arts Intensive Tour, titled 'Circle of Dreams,' at RISPA in Atlanta, GA on June 3, 2013 followed by week-long intensives in Charlotte, NC at Mathews Playhouse; UCLA in Los Angeles, CA; Omaha Performing Arts in Omaha, NE; KimMel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia, PA and Hartford Stage in Hartford, CT. The organization just celebrated the start of the season and the three new educational initiatives at a reception on May 20 at the Room Mate Grace Hotel in NYC. The Broadway Dreams Foundation announced their dedication to three educational initiatives that align with their mission and will offer BDF students exciting performance opportunities while also supporting emerging artists and creative projects. The three initiatives include a sophomore album by musical theater songwriter Joey Contreras, the development of a new musical, and a showcase featuring BDF students from across the country at NYC's New World Stages.
The Broadway Dreams Foundation will partner with UCLA to present a week-long Summer Performing Arts Intensive on the UCLA campus June 17 - June 23, 2013. Olivier Award-nominated director Stafford Arima (bare, Altar Boyz, Ragtime), Emmy Award-nominee Spencer Liff (So You Think You Can Dance, Smash), and a roster of Broadway veterans to be announced will work with aspiring performers of all ages in preparation for Circle of Dreams, a unique Broadway concert open to the public at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.
Vicki and Chris Le Vine, along with The Broadway Dreams Foundation, presented the third annual White Christmas at Sweetwater Farm and Grace Winery (50 Sweetwater Road, Glen Mills, PA) on Sunday, December 16. The festive old-fashioned piano party and cabaret featured performances by Broadway's brightest stars and talented local BDF students. Each year hundreds of students received valuable musical theatre training through BDF programs offered in partnership with Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Broadway Dreams Foundation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing training, mentoring and career opportunities to the next generation of musical theater performers, visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. In honor of the occasion, Broadway Dreams Founder and Executive Director Annette Tanner rang the Closing Bell along with Broadway teaching artists Tony Vincent (American Idiot, NBC's 'The Voice') and Craig D'Amico (Annie Get Your Gun), as well as BDF's brightest students and rising stars.
