Oscar- and Tony-winning costume designer Ann Roth and Broadway lighting designer Shirley Prendergast are among the winners of 2014 Distinguished Achievement Awards from the United States Institute for Theatre Technology.

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has broken the house record in Baltimore, MD for the week ending March 9 at the Hippodrome grossing $1,675,748.25.

Back by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which played a record-breaking three-week run in the spring of 2013, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins April 1, 2014 at the Boston Opera House and plays a limited four week engagement through April 27, 2014. In Boston, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available for $25 apiece.

This new production begins previews nearly 55 years to the day that A RAISIN IN THE SUN had its Broadway premiere (March 11, 1959) at the same theatre, the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Opening night for A RAISIN IN THE SUN is Thursday, April 3 at 6:45pm. The 14-week limited engagement runs through Sunday, June 15.

For the week ending 2/9/14, THE BOOK OF MORMON broke the house record at Atlanta's Fox Theatre, grossing $2,802,606.00. This milestone represents the highest eight performance gross in Broadway touring history. The show breaks a record previously set by WICKED in 2012.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that acclaimed actress Diahann Carroll has withdrawn from the upcoming Broadway revival of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Kenny Leon, and also starring Denzel Washington. LaTanya Richardson Jackson will assume the role of Lena Younger in the production, currently in rehearsals.
